Soy crisp addiction and withdrawal

Postby DogMa » May 26th, 2006, 5:00 pm

Sigh. I ordered one box to try, and as soon as I tasted 'em, I ordered more. I've been rationing the ones I had, figuring my box would come today.

It did, but it came AFTER I left for work this afternoon. So here I am, crispless and very, very sad. I can't believe how deprived I feel, when I only just started eating the things a week ago!!

Soy crisps? Crack crisps is more like it!!

Crack crisps!! I like that. I was not too impressed. The flavor of the ranch was good. It is the texture I have a problem with. They reminded me of pork rinds. You know, fried pork skin. Yuck!! If they were thinner and crisper, I would be in your boat. There were a couple in one of my bags that were really thin and crisp like chips. Not many, though. My samples were enough. I guess I am lucky. I hear a lot of people saying they are addicted to them!!

Oh, see, I like the texture of pork rinds but can't tolerate the "porkiness," for lack of a better word. They totally grossed me out when I was on Atkins, no matter how much I tried to like them.

I love these, though. The white Cheddar rocks! (I'm not a big potato chip eater, though, so maybe that's why. They remind me of little popcorn cakes.)

I LOVE soy crisps! The Gen Soy brand is awesome, they're waiting for me when I'm off the MF grub.

Yes, I think it is the thought of what they are (the rinds). Kind of like calf fries. Who wants to eat a nut?? I am glad I am not addicted to them. It could be a real problem for me. They are so easy to carry along, as are the bars, which I am not that fond of either. I am addicted to the chocolate puddin, though.

I really like them - it was a nice 'add' to my diet - was getting tired of the other snacks and I like it because since it's CRUNCHY is solves that urge to eat CHIPS (my drug of choice)

I like them TOO MUCH! I'm very worried about having them on hand because I don't usually snack! I'm going to try to pawn them off on somebody Monday night when the zonies get together again. Crack crisps, you ain't kidding!

Two packs have fewer calories and carbs than a bar, and about the same amount of protein. If they'd just add in some vitamins, they could make them a meal. Which would be awesome. As it is, I may use them that way on occasion if I need something convenient. I can always take a multivitamin those days (or heck, since I'm already eating six supplements a day plus the L&G, I'm already getting my full amount of Medifast vitamins).

Soy Crisps

Postby Jan » May 29th, 2006, 7:39 am

I was just at a TSFL meeting. Someone brought soy crisps for us to sample. They were smart. :( They put them right up in front so everyone could see when we "sampled" :? Otherwise I know we all would have "snuck" to the back of the room and happily munched away!!! As it was I did notice a couple people who made more than one trip for a "taste" . Hmmmmm my skinny hubby!! Yup he's hooked tooooo!!!

I bought a couple of other brands with similar nutrition breakdowns as a little test for myself. One has my favorite flavor, vinegar and salt. I split the bag into small portions and put them all in little baggies. If I can stick to one serving a day of them (on days I don't have the Medifast ones, just to get a different flavor), then I've made some major progress.

Although I already did. I bought the bag yesterday and opened it right away to try them. I had half of one - and it was delicious - but didn't touch the rest all day.

You're WAY stronger than me, Robin!

I was trying to make Lauraly take my whole box tonight to get the crack crisps away from me, but she wouldn't!

I'm DEFINITELY NOT taking them on my trip!

I'm going to stop eating them. I am fine to only eat one package a day, but they are too much like potato chips for me. Chips were one of my major weaknesses and I don't want to become dependent on something similar each day. It's not helping me make progress.
