soups/stews

Postby bande1102 » October 26th, 2005, 7:38 am

Does anyone have any recipes/ideas for soups or stews that would fit the lean and green meal? I really like eating hot foods and I love soups in the winter. Also, I'm looking through my recipes now, but does anyone know what a serving size would be for the l & g?

Thanks,

Elle

The 'lean and green' 5&1meal is:
4-5 ounces of LEAN protein cooked without fat or sauces (5-6 ounces for men)- e.g. chicken breast, fish, lean pork, lean beef, etc.
a small salad with fat free/lowcal dressing
1-2 cup of low-carb vegetables - see below

Medifast site recipes in pdf format:
Chinese Hot and Sour Soup
Thai Creamy Soup
http://www.makemethinner.com/pdf/recipes.pdf

You can also add some of your 5&1 veggies.
Artichokes
Asparagus
Beans (green, waxed, Italian)
Broccoli
Brussels sprouts
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Celery
Cucumber
Eggplant
Greens (mustard, collard, turnip)
Lettuce (romaine, iceberg, bibb)
Mushrooms
Onions
Pea Pods
Peppers
Radish
Spinach
Sprouts
Summer Squash
Tomatoes
Zucchini
Avoid the following foods: Potatoes, Corn, Peas, Carrots, & all Fruits

Hi dominiquej,

The current Quick Start Guide varies from your list in the following ways:

The lean portion is:

7 oz. of chicken, turkey, or fish or
5 oz. of lean beef, pork, or lamb

Vegetables on your list that aren't included on the vegetable list are:
Artichokes
Pea pods
Brussel sprouts

(these vegetables are too high in carbs....the artichoke has 26g!)

The list in the Quick Start Guide also includes Turnips and the peppers should be green peppers only.

The portion size of the green is:

A. 2 cups of salad (salad greens, cabbage, spinach, sprouts, celery, radishes, cucumber, green pepper, or tomato) and up to 1/2 cup raw vegetables: or

B. 1 1/2 cups cooked vegetables

Is it possible that you have an old list?
