Sorbitol

Postby TamiL » March 5th, 2004, 4:38 pm

Hello Gang
I was just curious if the Diabetic Medifast shakes had the same ingredient as the Diabetic bars? I switched to the Diabetic bars and found that I often get a tummy ache due to the MALTITOL/SORBITOL in them..that is what is used for most sugar-free stuff now a days and it does a number on my stomach!! one time I ate a sugar free candy bar with SORBITOL in it..and My stomach was rumbling for days!!

does the Medifast Diabetic shakes have this ingredient as well? I know they are commonly used sugar alcohols for Diabetic products to cut down on the real sugar..but just curious is the Diabetic shakes have this ingrediant as well??? just curious!!

Thanks...
Tami

Hi Tami,
No sorbitol in the Diabetice shakes. And you're right, they can give the rumblies for some people. You have to be careful with breath mints also.

Tami,

I had a VERY bad experience in the past with "Sugar-Free" chocolate candy. I had the Screaming Dirties for a week! I had eaten a POUNDER - yep a one pound box of chocolates. That was before the days of Depends...what a nasty week THAT was! Our products do NOT contain any of that nasty stuff!

Different manufacturers use different ingredients. All I know is that I had a very   bad experience with some sugar free chocolates - the sweetener used in the chocolates I ate is a corn derivative and it was  in my intestinal tract.

Many people get BAD GAS from eating sugar-free candy/mints/gum.

We could power up the western hemisphere with natural gas from sugar-free chocolates...amazing gastric distress tuneage...
