HI,

I sure did feel the earth quake! I left a longer explination as a reply in my journal.

I have been all my life in the Bay Area of Northern California so the shaking doesn't scare me much, but it does make you respect the earth!

cheers,
joy

Thanks, Biki ~
Where we live is pretty safe as far as earthquakes go...
it's just that we are close enough to fault lines and more
vulnerable seismic areas to feel when they are active.
For some reason, we felt this particular EQ really strongly!

Anyhoo...we're all just peachy...Rusty, too!

Yeah, he said everything's fine and they just got shaken up. We spent more of our lives in California, too - but we grew up in Northridge and our mom still lived there in '94. So we're definitely are more than just "used to" earthquakes, and a little afraid of 'em at this point. She lost a lot of stuff that meant a lot to her, plus some good friends who had to move away when their homes were destroyed, so she pretty much lost her will to live at that point. Died three months later.

Anyway, on THAT cheery note, how are things going? Rusty's adorable. Looks a lot like Mojo, actually.

Wow, Robin...sorry to hear about your mom ~ such a loss...of her possessions, friends, and, ultimately, your loss of her. Northridge was horribly devastating. That must've been really tough. I was glad to hear that your brother is fine, though.

Isn't Rusty too cute?? Of course, I'm biased ~ but he truly is! His character is really fun, too. Has Mojo settled down some? Labs stay puppies for a really long time, but it does get better...eventually! ;)

How are things going, you ask? Well. Things are really, really busy and are only gonna' get busier for me in the next several weeks. I was feeling a little unsettled about my schedule...not knowing exactly when things were coming due, so I sat down today and listed all of my upcoming exams and project/paper due dates. Yikes!! Counting the exams alone ~ from now until Dec 14th, I have 8 of them. Seven major exams and one "quiz." The quiz is in biopsych, so it'll still be pretty involved. Then there are two research projects where I have to conduct research and write papers about the whole procedures and create posters to present at the poster session, two term papers due by 12/13, and a project involving an interview and write up with a mental health professional. I'm using my sister who is an MFT, so that should help a little with that...but still! Holy crap! How am I gonna' get all this stuff done in less than 6 weeks???

I'm thinking that I'm gonna' have to cut WAY back on my forum time. There's just no way to get around it. Even when I try to only scan stuff quickly, I wind up spending a lot more time than I should reading posts. You know how it is...all of a sudden a couple of hours have gone by. Hours that I should have spent doing homework or studying.

So, after this weekend, I'm prolly gonna' be pretty scarce around here. Though, it'd be great if y'all stopped by now and then so I don't miss out on all of the important stuff!

Thanks!
Later.......(much later, I'm afraid!)

Hola y'all!! :wavie:
Just thought I'd take a couple of minutes to give a shout out to my MF peeps!
I miss you!!!! I'm going through forum withdrawals! :goofy:

Well, I'm one quiz, one test, and one paper down...and so far, so good. 99.5% on the quiz - which was in biopsych...so YAY! I think I studied more for that quiz than I did for the exam in another class!! But it paid off, didn't it?? I'll know about the test next week.

BTW, thanks SO much for the offer of assistance, Rodeo! That was very sweet! The actual writing of the papers is the easy part for me. It's locating research articles to reference and all that other stuff. Plus, these papers have to be done in APA format, which is very different from MLA. Yeah, it took me quite a while to get used to that. I still have to double-check with my APA guide all the time! ;) I really appreciate the offer, though--thanks!!

So.....how much have I missed??

Sojo, i just wanted to let you know that i commend your strength, with school and life in general. You are definitely a role model here for many individuals! Glad to hear everything is going well in school. I honestly don't know how you juggle everything. Wow, the power of practice maintaining positive thoughts is a power thing. I have realized this in my own life. It takes practice to change your subconscious thoughts but once they begin to change, your WHOLE life and outlook change. Although this may seem like rambling to some, sojo, i know you understand. So to you i say thanks for being such a positive person and allowing your positivity exude thru our computers. :)
