"hallooooo" echoes through the halls of SoJo's journal as curious MediBuds wander not so aimlessly through.

Hey, chica! ?Donde esta's? (Sorry, can't figure out how to do the accents...or the upside down punctuation)

Hola, y'all!
It's SO good to be home!

AZ was fine, but....omg, it's hotter'n a June bride inna featherbed!!
...uhm, and I guess that's pretty
hot!

Isaac's 8th grade promotion was great and the celebration was fun, and I got to see my youngest nephew again (great-nephew, Gabriel - born in Dec). He's beautiful!

No, Mike, I didn't have the opportunity to stop at Sal's  ~ I took Amtrak to my niece's home in LA and then drove the rest of the way with her. I just didn't know if my back could take such a long drive all at once, and I really didn't have much wiggle room 'cause I left right after my final on Tues and the promotion ceremony was Wed afternoon.

It was a great time. While I was there, my 16-year-old nephew (and godson) received a "congrats on a great season" letter from Stanford University. Cool beans! He's a wrestler. A really good wrestler...he's going to Nationals next month; he won the AZ State Championship his freshman year, and 2nd place this year. He's only been wrestling for about 4 years, when most kids start at around 4-years-old, or so! His record is awesome, and he's never been pinned. AND...he has a 4.0 GPA, to boot. He scored a 74 out of 75 on his trigonometry final. :D Yup, that's m'boy!!

Here's the blurb the local newspaper wrote about his being the Parker High School Athlete of the Year (oh yeah, there was that, too!):

Jerod Flores, a sophomore. Flores will represent Arizona this July in the Junior Nationals Free Style Wrestling Tournament in Fargo, North Dakota, wrestling in the 135-pound weight class. A two-year varsity starter, Flores is a two-time 3A West Region Champion, this year winning at 125 pounds, with a 2006 season record of 53-4, including 37 pins, and a second straight appearance in the 3A State Finals. Flores also excels off the mat, with a 4.0 GPA. Congratulations, Jerod!

Anyway, yeah, Stanford sent him a questionnaire to fill out so that they could "get to know him better." As a sophmore, he's too young for them to legally recruit. He was really jazzed about it though ("It's a sign, Nina!"), because he's always wanted to be a doctor, and Stanford is a great place to go. I'm excited 'cause it's only about 3 hours from me. He's coming out to visit in a couple of weeks, and I'm gonna' surprise him with a day trip to check out the beautiful Cardinal campus. I know he's gonna' get a whole bunch of other offers, especially after Nationals, but I'm pushing for Stanford...can you tell? ;)

Okay, enough of that.....but, gosh ~ I'm just SO proud of that little goober!

Thank you all for the vacation wishes, though I still feel like I should be studying or working on a paper or something! It hasn't quite sunk in that I don't have any classes until September! Yeah, babeeeee!!

Sounds like you had a great time. BTW, we send a few middle school kids from here to Nationals each year. We have a REALLY good program. We even have an award winning girls team.

Mizz T, Biki, Mike, Robin, Chynna, Donna, and Sue!!
Thanks, y'all ~ sorry it took so long to get back here...

Summer vacation so far has been busy, busy, busy...you know, all the things I'd put off that I was gonna' get to once the semester ended. Yikes! I'm muddling my way through it all now. It's a spring cleaning of sorts.

I also made good on my promise to finally go to the eye doctor. I've never been. Ever. The last time I had an eye exam was prolly in grade school! But, years of working on the 'puter has done a real number on my peepers...well, there's that beyond 40 thing as well...danggit! The eye doc has this new-fangled machine (Optomap Retinal Scan) that provides a 200 degree image of the back of the eye (retina). It allows him to check for stuff like glaucoma and diabetes and any macular degeneration, etc. He said that my scan was as clear as can be and that everything looked really good. Yay! I was hoping to get contacts and end the hassle of having to dig out my reading glasses every time I needed to look at something close up, but the doc said that my long distance vision (which is very good) would be compromised. No thanks. I want to keep the stuff I still have, thankyouverymuch! So, no contacts. :| Instead, I got no-line bifocals, where the top is clear and the bottom is prescription. The frames are pretty cute, too ~ they should be ready tomorrow. I'll just wear them all the time...and they darken in the sunlight, so they're shades too. :shades:

I also saw my primary care physician for follow-up on my shoulders ~ been having lots of pain there, as well. I know!! I'm friggin' falling apart, y'all!!! X-rays show what is probably bursitis and/or rotator cuff tendonitis in both shoulders. (My jock years coming back to haunt me).
Strangely enough, the right shoulder looks way worse on film than does the left, but my left shoulder hurts A LOT more than the right...:scratchhead: She said that there's likely more soft-tissue damage in my left, which wouldn't show up on the x-ray. Whatever...just fix it, please!!! She referred me to the ortho dept for further evaluation and maybe an MRI if they think it's warranted.

Anybody have bursitis? It sounds like no big deal, but it hurts like the dickens! I've experienced tingling and numbness at times, is that normal? Also, any quick movement causes momentary, but excruciating, pain. A big ol' jolt of "hey, knock that off!" coming from my shoulder (only the left). Aaaarrrgh! This getting old stuff is definitely not for sissies!

Gotta' go! I'll try to catch up on journals later.....the journals are pretty much the only thing I have time to check out lately, I hope I'm not missing too much in the other areas of the forum. A big welcome to any newbies who might be reading...good to have you! Hopefully, I'll have some time to check out other stuff soon!

Talk at y'all later!
Hasta!
