Sneaking around long enough!

Postby horsey girl » February 20th, 2005, 9:55 pm

Hi everyone, I have been sculking around so long I thought I better show myself. I really feel that I know you all as I have been listening to your trials and tribulations for almost three weeks now. Spidey, I mourned with you over that two lb gain from too many bars. Two lbs from diet bars? Bummer at least it should have been a big steak! And Jen, I see you are starting for sure tomorrow. Three weeks doesn't make me an expert but I will give you a couple of thoughts I hang on to. In six months, God willing, I will be six months older and maybe a little bit wiser. This will happen on or off medifast so do I want to be older and fatter or older and thinner and feeling much better. Either way I'm gonna Be older! Think like a 12 step program. Just for today I can stick to this. One day at a time. The journey starts with a single step and that I can do. And Happy Start Day! And Donna D, A fellow Montanan. I was born there and went to college in Bozeman and met my husband there. That was before you were born but I'll bet those mountains haven't changed. Go Bobcats! And all you legal eagles, I am both the daughter and mother of lawyers and haven't won an argument in years except with my long suffering husband who just gives up. I didn't get the legal genes though, just passed them on. I am a professional artist and we have made a living with that for the last 25 years so as long as my eyes and hands hold up thats what I will do. Its been a fun ride and taken me all over the country but its gotten too hard to drag this weight up and down ladders and scaffolding, [when I'm lucky I get to do large public works] so I started medifast on Jan 24 and so far have lost 15.5 lbs. Thats 15 lbs the first three weeks and 1/2 lb this week which will be over tuesday so barring amazing things I won't make my twenty lb goal in a month. Well this too shall pass, I hope. I have the most resistant metabolism on earth, which I have done to myself. Well, now that I have put all my new friends to sleep, I best say goodnight. You all sound great. horsey girl

Welcome Horsey Girl,

It's always good having someone new on the team. 15lbs in less than a month is awesome. You said you had a horrible matabolism, I hear that sister, just think on what other diet could you have lost 15lbs in less than a month? So it's good to have you aboard and keep on shakin. One day at a time. :D

Thanks for sharing,
Nikki

Why hello there! Welcome! :wavie: Sounds like you have the same attitude as me. Absolutely one day at a time! I see we started on the same day. Cool! I hear you on the crappy metabolism, I thought mine was awful before, too. Have you had your thyroid tested? Might be worth checking out, if you haven't already. Happy shaking!

what an awesome start! trust me when i tell you that i would have much rather been born with the art genes than the law ones! i actually took an abstract oil painting class during my first year of law school for stress relief. i just couldn't get it, but i sure as heck had a lot of fun!!!

your start is amazing, and i wouldn't even say you had a sluggish metabolism - just a slower one! keep on chugging. before you know it, the grandkids will start pouring in and you will want to be fit & healthy to keep up with the little rascals :)

Welcome H.G.
So good to have you with us. I love the idea of the 12 step program!! Only I need a 24 mini-step program...when I get up in the morning I can't even look at the entire day, I have to go one hour at a time. Luckily I work too, I am an elementary school media specialist...and that keeps me running. You must be turning 50 in 6 months??? maybe?? I am getting ready to celebrate my first anniversary of 50 in one week...and I am here to tell ya....50 is great.

I love that you are an artist....we had a minister once who had to defend add a multi zillion dollar steeple to a new church we were building...and he said....there is a place for beauty in the world.....thanks for contributing.

Are you doing the total fast or the 5 and 1??...we are a noisy group here we do like to Know all and Tell all~!!

Welcome to the group~~

I would like to chime in my welcome too Horsey Girl! Love the name by the way - I love all animals (dogs especially!) I, too, think it's so cool you are an artist. I always would have loved to be able to create something w/ my own hands, but never could. I am now so into my creative thinking that I decided to get a paint by numbers set to try! It is so fun and just like therapy! Relaxing. My two kids are doing one too so it's great to sit around our table and talk and work together. My hubby had a great time watching Nascar yesterday while the 3 of us painted! Great bonding moments!

Anyway, I lost exactly 10 lbs in the two weeks (exactly) that I have been on the program. I am hoping to make that 20 lb mark by 1 month! Thanks for joining and introducing yourself! Welcome! :star:

Hi HGirl ---

Welcome! I always wonder about the "guests" I see are perusing the site when I sign on and wish there was a way for all of us to communicate with them -- give them a push that just might bring them over to MF and a better life. So glad that you did it!

You don't say how much weight you have to lose or what your goal is ... but 15.5 pounds in 4 weeks is VERY good. That's about on par with where I am -- I'm on 5 weeks with a total loss of 16.6.

Ya gotta look at it this way - we didn't gain 20 pounds over-nite ... so it's not going to come off that way. The BIG NEWS is that it IS coming off.

Just keep shaking, keep slurping, and keep coming to the forum. So happy to have you with us!

Good Morning and welcome to you, Horsey Girl! Happy to know that you are no longer Lurky Girl...

This is such a happy and helpful group here and I know that we can depend upon you to continue to share your good weight loss news with us.

You are off to a great start, Horsey.

Our bodies are wonderfully made and we while we may all release flabbage at a different rate, we are all headed on the same journey with the same destination: Thinsville!

For some of us, it takes a while to get started in the right direction and when some take a detour, we know there are others who can help us get back on the road.

Happy shaking to you and :buddies: here's to your continued success!

good job!

I'm so proud when I see newer newbies on here than me! It's actually just as inspiring if not more. I officially lost 19lbs in 6 weeks (tomorrow is actually my 6 week mark!). It all depends, but I have to say the first 7-10 lbs is usually water, but it makes you work harder because you see the difference quickly. I have tons of friends and family so I have to do the 5 +1 lean meal- social outings are very common in my life.

The point is that you're working your way to your goal, and that you are aware that YOU CAN achieve this!

Good for you and keep the great work up!

Welcom Horsey Girl, so glad you have made yourself visible here.
If you've been following along for 3 weeks, you already know what a great place this is.
One day at a time indeed...........but I also like to remind myself how much of my time on the program is gone.........I approximated 28 weeks on the program, so I'm down 3 now, only 25 left........approximately.

Looking forward to hearing more from you. Oh, do you indeed have horses? My daughters have 3.

Thanks All, for the big welcome. The scale did finally move again this week so I ended my first month down #17. Not my goal but not so bad I guess, as this is the first diet in several years that has worked that long and its so far very easy. Always before my body has gone into panic mode and refused to part with anything in case the great famine is coming. I blame this on my father whose ancesters came from siberia. I am always prepared for the long artic winter only we never get them here in Texas! MamaD, I wish I was turning 50 again! I am 54. The 6 mounth deal was a hypothetical time frame. I was trying to help Jen with motivation to get a firm start. The idea actually came from something I read which had to do with going to college later in life. The person was worried about how old he would be when he graduated in four years. It was pointed out that he would be exactly that age in four years any way but could be that age with the degree. I always think about that when I am thinking about starting a long project. What will I have gained at the end of that time if I don't do it. {In this case more weight most likely} Its those long winters.LOL. My father always liked to take credit for my art genes but he should have taken credit for the fat genes, and he was neither fat nor artistic. To answer you question I am on the 5 and 1 and want to lose about 80 lbs. Thanks again Everybody. This is a great group. Horsey Girl

Hmmm re:
he was neither fat nor artistic

does that make him fartistic?
I know that you wanted more 17 pounds off this month...but you know what? that's about half a pounder every day - not bad at all!

You are so right about looking at the project as a whole.

6 months from now, some of you will wish that you had started today...some of you who have been shaking right along, day by day, rejoice in knowing that you're getting the job done.

It takes time to get to your prime. If a morbidly obese matronly-looking lumpy lady can become luscious, I know you CAN do it, too! I'm no body special - not any specialer than you - go for it! What have you got to gain?
