Well I suppose I should start a journal as well. I get so inspired reading everyone elses.
My weight problem began after had my first child twenty years ago. I'd love to blame my weight problem on my children but I'd only be kidding myself. My weight program, like many, was a result of bad eating habits, not exercising enough and just not having the discipline to turn down food. Just call me the Yo-Yo Dieter Queen. If there was a product or program out there that mentioned weight-loss, I was all over it.
My journey began after reading an article in People Magazine about people losing a weight on various weight-loss programs. A lady who had lost a significant amount of weight in a short timeframe on a program called Medifast intrigued me. Being the Internet junkie I am, I began researching the program and was pleased at what I had found. Finding the program had been tested by Johns Hopkins University, is a healthy program consisting of soy proteins, and believe it or not, reading all the wonderful MakeMeThinner Forum posts by real people on the program, totally sold me.
I started the program on January 12th at the weight of 212. I was amazed at how easy the program was for my busy lifestyle. Not only was it easy, but also I was completely satisfied and didn't crave the things that I typically craved on other weight loss programs. Trust me, I have tried many different programs and nothing compares to the Medifast program in my eyes. Pounds were dropping like mad, clothes were being grown out of at a rapid pace, and here I am, six months later and 60 pounds lighter. I'm not quite at my goal weight, but working towards that wonderful milestone that I would have never believed I could achieve. I've posted a new progress picture of me in the studio yesterday.
I am married to a wonderful man named Rich, have two sons, Tim (20 yrs) and Travis (16 yrs), two stepsons, Jason (29 yrs) and Ryan (23 yrs), a sheltie named Cheyenne and a cat named Snickers. I work for the Oregon Lottery as the Materials Manager overseeing Procurement and Contracts, Warehouse/Distribution, Logistics and Facilities. I have been an avid bowler and softball player for many years however have given them up to perfect my game of golf. I love to travel, enjoy playing card or board games with friends and family, and spending quality time with the people that mean the most to me.
In March of 2006, I became a Take Shape for Life Certified Health Advisor. I consider this as being one of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences in my life. Helping others from all over the United States become healthier and slimmer is a great feeling! Plus I have made all kinds of new friends!
I'm now 7 pounds from my original goal. When I was starting this journey, 145 seemed to be a magic number. I have no idea why. Now when I look at the BMI chart, it looks like I need to be at 142 to hit the high end of the healthy weight. RATS!!!! So I might need to lose 10 more pounds - but heck, I've lost 60, what's another 10 for crying out loud!
I want to personally thank each and every one of you on this forum for being there for me. I watched and participated in this forum religiously and had I not, I might not have been as successful!
