Small Victory for ME!

Postby summerblue » May 10th, 2006, 7:09 am

Hello Ladies and Gents!

I just wanted to share a SMALL VICTORY I had last night!

........I think you've all be there in your past life......just finish watching your child perform a couple of dance numbers (or incert a late week night out event here) at the middle school, it's about 8:15pm - your daughter says, I'M STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARVING.............let's go to (insert fast food restuarnt here) so we proceed to the drive-thru. (DH is driving and YES he's on MF too) my daughter places her order; hamburgar (no lettuce, picles, onions or that other icky goop you put on) small fry and .... can I have a milkshake? Large Milkshake please.
My DH says - want anything? I look at him like he's EVIL and say, UH! He apologizes.........I run thru my head what I could EAT there - grilled chicken sand - throw the bread out, (all of that sort of stuff goes thru my head, you know the RATIONALIZATION). Mind you I had eaten my L&G at LUNCH because I knew I'd be busy last night and would only have time to make a soup (all of which I had eaten, of course).
After all of my rationalizations I looked at my husband and said, I'm not hungry! (don't get me wrong, I could eat.......but I wasn't "HUNGRY") He didn't order anything either.

So I did it - it's really be then only time I was THAT tempted since starting MF.........but I didn't do it! and I'm really REALLY REALLY happy about that!

Sorry so long and drawn out, just wanted to share!

........Thanks!.........Mara

Great job, Mara! When you think about it, though, it is not a small victory. It is a big one! And you did it! Way to go!

Thanks for all your kind words.

Plus I keep thinking - off my WAIST so far I have lost 4 inches........I don't want to PUT IT BACK ON.

LOL...had the exact similar situation before taking my son to Karate last night.

The only difference was he ordered a happy meal and I ordered nothing.

WOW!! Mara that was a HUGE victory! It is hard to resist those fast food menus. I have not had the courage to go through a drive thru since I started Medifast. You are my hero today :trophy:

Success is really just a series of small victories like that, isn't it?

Hi

Hi Mara,
I agree with Robin...I think all those small victories add up to total success! I also had a drive-through experience recently...I did stick my nose in the bag before I handed it over to the other occupant of the vehicle, was happy with that, stuck my Diet Pepsi straw in my mouth and drove off! It's amazing that once we know what's IN what comes out of that window...not as appetizing! You did GREAT, girl! I'd throw that in the large victory category, it's called winning what 90% of this struggle is...the MENTAL ONE! Plus, if it's not a large victory...what are those GONE 4"?

Great job! DH too!
