Should I still try my MF?

Postby Prancer » October 12th, 2006, 1:59 pm

The drs told me to stick to a bland diet with no spices and no fat etc. So I have been eating scrambled eggs and saltines today and last night. I would rather try to stick to my MF until I have the surgery. I would think MF would be fine, maybe if I just do shakes? Right now I am so afraid to eat because it will hurt. I just dont know what to do.

You didn't ask them? I'd ask them what they thought, or just eat what they said and not chance it.

My doctor said just eat bland. She said basically no fat, no grease, no spice. I might just stick with the saltines and water until I see the surgeon.

It might be best to call the doc, but I would think medifast qualifies as bland low-fat. :)

If it was me I would be having lots of Lipton Chicken noodle soup and crackers. And tuna on toast. YUM.

Yeah, JennP, same thing, just two nurses talking 'shop'.   Best of luck with your impending surgery. I have had the surgery and it was quite simple, as a matter of fact, pleasantly simple :D I hope they schedule you very soon so you will start feeling much better! :)

Well I had a shake and a bar today. I am in more pain right now then I have been in a couple days. I'm afraid to tell DH. So I am going back to crackers now

Joan I didnt know you were a nurse as well. I think the term you used is what the radiologist kept saying and I kept telling him "I dont know what you are saying" He kept saying "clinical blah blah blah" He kept repeating it as if I just hadnt heard him. Um, no I hear ya but I dont get ya. He was so nice to me.

I got a call this morning and I have an appt now on Monday afternoon at the surgeon my friend's dh used and it is much much closer.

I'm sorry the shake and the bar made you hurt :( that really surprises me, but maybe it's the soy protein or the vitamin mix or something.

I'm glad you have an appt soon!

Jenn, low fat saltines and fat free broth might be the way to go until Monday. Anything low fat and bland. Jello, scrambled egg whites, clear soups, anything to avoid having your gall bladder work harder. If it were me, I wouldn't be eating the MF right now, unless you want to try the soups. Geez, I hope they gave you something for pain and that you will be feeling better really soon. Gall bladder pain is worse than labor, trust me on that one! ;)

I am eating the saltines again and drinking my water. They didnt give me anything for pain, I am taking advil. I bought some SF jello the other day so I am going to use that tomorrow when we are running around. I have never had an attack last more then a day before. Its weird. Normally I suffer and it goes away.

Joan thank you so much for helping me.

Jenn, did the radiologist give you any clue as to what he saw on ultrasound? Could it be a stone blocking the duct? They call this 'cholelithiasis' if he winged that terminology your way. Big word which means 'stones'. Maybe this could be the reason why your pain is lasting more than a day? Or, eating an increased amount of fat, irritated the hell out of the gall bladder? Just guesses here. :?: Listen to what the surgeon has to say, and make him speak in 'lay terms' not clinical, so that you will be able to understand. ;)
