Hey, DeDe - my current model is an Emjoi Optima, though I have used the Epilady and a Braun model as well. The one I have now has more discs (double that of most), so it's faster. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's corded and not rechargeable. Other than that, it's great!

Whatever. I love it - and my silky smooth pits and legs, too!

I'm WAY late weighing in here, but I tried the Epilady twice, first when it came out and then later when they said it was improved and less painful. I have permanent bruising/marks on my leg where I tried to use before I gave up because it hurt so much. I don't know HOW you can stand to use it, especially under your arms!!

Geez Louise, Robin! I've never experienced anything even remotely close to that. Neither have I ever had anything get *caught* in the device, or even pinched - and I've never really felt what I would call PAIN when using it. I've always known that my pain threshhold is quite high, but holy camoly! And then again...maybe y'all are just wusses!!!

Mine is an Emjoi Gently Gold. I was mistaken, the Epilady was an older style that had a rotating coiled spring, wasn't it? I had one of those too, but it missed a lot of hair. The Emjoi uses rotating 'tweezers' and does a decent job of removing the hair. You just have to make sure that the skin stays taunt so that it cannot easily get 'pinched'. I like mine.

Tawanda, I also had an Emjoi Gently Gold Caress, which I really liked - and it was cordless. As I mentioned before, the new one has more discs, so it covers more area at once and is faster. Oh, gosh, I'd forgotten about the old coil spring, those were not the best...though they were still better than shaving. I'm glad you like yours - I guess you're not a wuss, either!!

Hey, Joelie, did you win your auction?

I'm just glad that its accepted that men don't have to do this. Given how long this thread has become, and the issues that women have, I'm so glad to be a man (and for MANY more reasons than this ;) ).

I'm glad that you're happy with your gender, Mike. Women do deal with a lot of "issues," but I'd still way rather be female than male - uhm, 'cuz girls ROCK!! Grooming aside, it's not as though men don't have their own very unique and disturbing issues...

That said, Mike...can you braid your pit hair like Jo??

I let that one go once I was outbid on it. It was an Epilady Legend. I am now bidding on the same that you and Tawanda have...cordless, I have a couple of days left on the auction. I'll let ya know.
As long as my measly little 3 pager thread doesn't perturb princess biki too much, that is.
