Shakes 55/70 question

Postby week 2 & hungry » July 3rd, 2005, 3:15 pm

If a woman is still hungry, can she have a 70 shake instead of a 55? I ran across a comment to this effect in one of the messages. Would that help alleviate the hunger symptoms? How much difference would it really make in the weight loss :?:

55 vs 70

Postby Jan » July 3rd, 2005, 5:16 pm

Three 70 shakes have 15 more grams of protein than the 55's. We use them for women who lead active lifestyles and for those who have medical conditions which require more protein. (also for men) They have 10 more calories each than the 55's so the calorie difference is insignificant. They may tend to make you less hungry because of the added protein. If you are really hungry you can add an extra 55 shake for the first few days until your body adjusts. Hope this helps

My husband uses the 70 shakes and I have them whenever I get overly hungry..they are suppose to be for the more active but I still have them when i feel the old hunger pains going overboard  I also have found that if I drink a cup of bouillon it really helps calm the old rumbly tummy down till the next shake--hope it helps--Please just hang in there and you will see the rewards of MF--Martha

Dear Guest ~

Yes, some women can benefit from the 70 shakes if they are experiencing hunger. There will not be any difference with their weight loss.

Long ago, everyone was on the same program - 55 shakes and as time has gone by, the 70's came about. Many women use the 70's today. It has just 10 calories more per shake than the 55. Many women today are truly active and benefit from the 70's.

Some hunger may actually be caused from excess stomach acid - if you eat sugar-free mints or chew sugar-free gum, drink diet pop, etc. it can exacerbate feelings of hunger by stimulating the production of stomach acid. A Pepcid or Tagamet can sometimes help to calm down the growly empty stomach feeling.

Thanks for the info. I don't want to replace all my 55 shakes with 70, but I thought one a day on occasion might help. And I've lost 10 pounds in 10 days, so it's definitely working.

Thanks

Week 2 ~

If you are experiencing hunger about the same time each day, try to have your shakes a half an hour sooner in anticipation and the next one a snort closer together.

You may want to consider having a Medifast Plus Appetite Suppression shake during the hungry time or try cutting your bar into small pieces and eat them spread out over the hungry time. Try to determine if it is true hunger or head hunger you've got going on there.
