Jo, had to pop in and say I'm doing the gusset decreases and dang but I think I'm hot stuff!!! :D I love this knitting socks business!!

Okay, so now everyone knows it takes very little to excite me and I've got the old grandma knitting genes just a coursing through my body. I love making doilies, knitting sweaters & afgans and also, now, knitting socks............. sigh. No secrets nor excitement here.

Jo, I'm glad it was so easy for you to go back to the 5/1. I'm on day 1 today and temptations are still around (I can't take EVERYTHING out of the house or the baby would have no food - I can binge on just about anything....) but I shall overcome.

I'm sorry about thinking you were perfect. That sounded odd, but I hope you know what I mean. I can understand not wanting to talk about what got you to your highest weight in the first place. I just couldn't imagine going on plan one day and staying on until goal. That's my own issue, not yours.

The cookie comment got to me - about it being something you just have to choose to avoid for your own health and thindom. I'm starting to wonder if I'll just always have to avoid every single processed food item for the rest of my life, because they all seem to do me in. I don't suppose that would be such a bad thing for my health, but it seems like a death sentence in terms of my tastebuds. Not so much as it used to pre-MF, though, so maybe there's hope - not that I'll learn to live WITH my trigger foods, but that I can be strong enough to live WITHOUT them.

Well, I seem to be treating every post today like it's in my own journal and going on forever, so I'll cut this off now. I just wanted to see how you were doing and of course I knew you'd be doing fabulously. :D

Hi

You guys are making me feel left out...a gusseted decreasing what? Okay, where can I find a knitting for dummies book? I just have to make sure my P.O. doesn't consider knitting needles a "weapon", and I'm ready to give it a try! I figure if I start now, I MIGHT have a pair of warm socks by Arizona Winter (December!)!

DeDe

dede, I bought a book called "I can't believe I'm knitting socks!" and it has lots of pictures :D so I'm finding that it has been pretty simple to figure out the instructions. Gusseted decreasing is something to do with making the heel cup on the sock. I've started making the sock from the top of the ribbing and am working on finishing the 'cup' of the heel. I love learning new things and knitting is an easy one to learn/do while watching television, etc. I use to make beautiful Aran (cabled) afgans....but hadn't picked up knitting needles for quite awhile. It is fun to have something to do while sitting with DH as he watches sports on the tube.

Jo, you are right.......never thought about not being able to eat while holding onto knitting needles. ;)

Excuse me, but minor correction. Joleen was on what we call a "mini-plateau."

Wasn't it two days? I believe that is a mini plateau, as Biki mentioned above, but aka a moderately long stall. :-P
