Seriously.
...and really...controversy? I didn't see it. What I saw was a dialogue regarding a simple difference of opinion, which I thought both sides handled gracefully and with great tact, at first. There was no name-calling or better-than-thou behavior. [This is how I see it ~ Oh, really? 'Cause I see it like this.] How is that something to get upset about? So not everyone agreed with everyone else. Welcome to the big world! If everyone agreed with everything I said....well, how boring would that be? Would I ever learn anything, or be enlightened in any way? Hey, wait a minute...that would be a cult, wouldn't it? No opinions. No debate. No posting in my journal. Uh, yeah...

MerryMary wrote:It seems that you (and others) were insulted at my use of the word "cult."

I, personally, was not insulted by the word "cult" Mary, but it is a pejorative word...as is the word "clique." Cult means extreme and even dangerous. So if you meant neither of those things, a less inflammatory word might have served you better and in a less offensive manner. That said, I would much rather have a debate about how I took the word and how you meant the word versus chastising you for having an opinion or being hesitant to voice your opinion for fear of the reaction it might receive. We are adults, right?

The other thing that struck me about this whole thing was the argument of leaving the forum to avoid the rampant clique-ishness of the boards...omg, isn't that the ultimate in exclusivity and divisiveness? Hmph.
:dunno:

Sorry, Jo ~ I posted the above before I saw this. ;)

Awwww, dede. Love you, too.....and did I mention, I miss you when you're awol.....don't do that!

Weight still teetering right at goal. Still on a mission to lose a few for the comfort factor. I just feel better knowing that I'm a few pounds below my goal weight. I know it's all in my head, but I just feel more comfortable there.

I love mornings! It's so quiet here. Hubs and I have coffee together, watch a little news (I miss Imus  ), and do a little surfin'. The sun shines through the kitchen windows. I like warm, sunshine is good. It's even quiet here on the forum, hehe. I'm just writing this to remind myself to stop and enjoy the little things. I really must remember to stop and look at the flowers when I leave for work instead of just dashing off like most days. The azalias are blooming in full force right now. The crab apple trees are just getting ready to burst. One of my favorites - lily of the valley - are getting ready to bloom, too. Kinda makes winter worth it. The contrast amazes me.

Just a quick response to your comment a page or so back.

You are one of the people I look to when I need help with MF, and I trust both the objective and subjective information you provide. You have lost weight consistently and stuck to plan when many others have failed, and have become an inspiration to a lot of people. While I will banter and argue with you about other things, I don't second guess your dieting advice.

I was walking a few days ago and the woman in front of me was yakking away on her cell phone but actually stopped to smell a rose! Now I have started doing the same thing. Nice not to let the little things pass you by...

I was teaching Dylan how to squish dandelions with his hands yesterday. Does that count as a little thing?

Ha. I had an image of you in board shorts with turtle wax and running out to catch some waves, and then I remembered that you live in Pittsburgh. And hate exercise.

hehe, now if only visions could be true. I always say I can't go out and exercise because of the weather and if I lived at the beach it would be different, but it's beautiful here today and I'm still sittin' on my butt.

Yeah, and you know, Jo, quite some time ago a little thing called a "gym" was invented, that virtually takes the weather situation out of the equation! Not sure if you've heard of them, perhaps on your next surfin' time you might want to google: Pittsburgh Gym

Just a thought...
