yabut, she coulda told me she wanted sparkles before I had 1 1/2 purple socks done, lol.

That question from my grandson came after I had lost almost all of my weight and over a year after I started Medifast. It was his very first comment about the change in his gramma.

Ok, here are the "plateau rules" young ladies:

1) Day 4 - I don't wanna hear it.
2) Day 5 - I don't wanna hear it.
3) Day 6 - I don't wanna hear it.
4) Day 7 - Will listen to a slight mention such as "scale hasn't been moving for 7 days", but no whining.
5) Day 8-10 - A little tiny whine won't be scoffed at.
6) Day 11-14 - A grrrrrr or two is alright.
7) Day 15.....you're doing something wrong, so post a typical day including all additions such as condiments, creamers, pickles, etc. and we'll all analyse it to death and tell you to do this or that different or to cut out your bar or to stand on your head, etc. etc., when all of a sudden you will lose some weight and we will start all over again at number 1 above.

Waiver: These are my own special rules. If you can get sympathy from someone else, you are welcome to try.

Lara,

On March 18 at roll call you wrote: "I've been plugging along compliantly--seriously--for 2 weeks and have lost only 6.2 pounds total."

So how can it be 15 days since you lost weight only 3 days later? I'm an accountant, but I don't have my calculator handy right now, so forgive me if I just don't get it.

On the chance that I just don't get it and that it's really been 15 days for you, why don't you post what you're eating in your journal and we'll take a look see.

because i started MFing a week before i joined the forum. so I actually started MF on 3/4/07 (my dad's birthday, RIP) and am exactly the same weight as I was after my initial drop 3 days into the jaunt making my last "loss" day the 7th of march and today is the 21st. so it's only been 14 days. anyway, i posted my routine earlier in my journal and the upshot was be more patient, don't eat canned green beans, be more patient, quit whining, be more patient, get over it, and be more patient. i think that pretty much sums it up. ;)

Ok, sorry, your posts indicated that you had lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks, so that was my understanding. I'm sorry you are going through this, lara. I had to weather many storms along the way, too, so I do know how it feels. I would suggest you call your health advisor or a Medifast nutritionist and really discuss what's happening with you. If I remember right, you have some health issues, too, that may be effecting your weight loss. All I know is that you will lose weight with Medifast if you stick to it.

BTW, my rules were tongue in cheek. I'm not really as much of a hardliner as I let on. 8)

135 today. Aunt Flo is on my hit list, grrrrrrr. Why do I have to accept blowing up like a balloon once a month? I don't, but I don't like to take pills so I don't take the diuretics that I have left over from my fat days and I just suffer through it. I never even take over the counter stuff like Midol. Woe is me for another day or so.

Ok, I wasn't going to post about this, but it's on my mind and this IS my journal and it IS bothering me so here goes:

I've been accused of being too much of a hardliner and not caring enough or being gentle enough with people. The truth is, I care just as much as the person who says "it's ok, don't beat yourself up, just jump back on". It's just that I to me, this is a little sugar coated and if all we heard in response to cheating was foo foo, this forum would be a sorry place to be.

I have always said what's on my mind. It gets me in trouble sometimes, but, it's the only way I know how to be. So I mix a little reality in with the foo foo and get beat up for it. I guess it's like I always told my kids "It's my job to be the bad guy". I took it from them and I can take it from anyone here who wants to dish it out.

There's another thing I repeated over and over to my kids: "If I didn't care about you, I wouldn't be so hard on you."

Jo, I knew your posts were all tongue in cheek and in fun. I'm sorry to read that anyone misunderstood and don't see the compassion, caring and the fun in your posts.

I do agree with you, if a person does not follow the program guidelines, then I do not understand their upset nor their complaining about their slow or non-existant weight loss. If the responses are always sugar-coated, how will they recognize their mistake in not following through on their commitment to doing the program correctly and completely.

Sorry if my teasing in the last couple of days was taken out of context by anyone.

I say that all the time to my students, in one variation or another. :D And once my daughter is older I'm sure she'll hear it ad nauseum, too.

Jo, I for one appreciate your point of view. I don't think people really mean to sugarcoat things, but everyone has a different style. And sometimes people need the truth, and sometimes people just need to be foo foo'ed because they are being hard enough on themselves.

I'll admit that my heart skips a beat when I see that you've posted in response to my journal or a question, because I know you're going to tell me the absolute truth as you see it - but that's valuable, and I appreciate it, even though I get a little nervous. And someday if you ever tell me 'job well done' it will mean the world to me, because I will know you mean it.

I do not mean to imply that other people don't mean what they say - I just mean that you are like the parent with really high uncompromising standards but everyone knows you only want the best for your 'kids.' And earning your approval is probably high on a lot of people's lists around here. So yes we may grumble when you tell us to face a truth we might be avoiding but we need you to do it for our own good!

Jo,

One thing that I love about you is that you are honest. You remind me so much of my mother. She basically said what she felt. I really do appreciate what you do say. I have read your whole Journal...... You did it. And you wrote your true feelings and I thank you. Please be hard on me if I get all sappy. If I am not following the program correctly I would want you to tell me that I must be messing something up.

I imagine the only people who would be offended by your "style" are those who aren't willing to admit that they're not following the program completely. Guilt or shame is often masked by anger. Too bad for them.

You and I have always been the hardliners, you just got the bigger reputation for it because you're on here more, but if you'd like to pass some of the negative responses my way, I'm happy to tackle them with you! :-)

I think MF is fantastic, it has changed our lives in every aspect. I want every single person here to follow it exactly as it's written, and achieve the success that you and I have both experienced. Your efforts and style are impactful, honest, and most of all, work. While it's very nice to be kind and sympathetic and nurturing, having someone tell you it's okay to eat a cookie ain't gonna make you lose the weight.

You rock. And anyone who messes with my Jo, messes with me! :-)
