134 today again. Still bloated from Aunt Flo.

Avoiding work at all costs, I checked out the MyMedifast tip of the day. I'm posting it here because I believe it to be worthy of remembering and repeating:

Thinking About "Motivation"

A lot of people associate weight loss with "motivation" and if they're not "in the mood" to exercise or eat right, then they shouldn't bother. What’s needed, though, is to take Nike's slogan to heart and just do it, regardless of how one feels. What would happen if you only washed your dishes or paid your bills whenever you felt like it? You'd have a sink full of filthy dishes, and your creditors would be calling at all hours.

Healthy living needs to be the rule—regardless of how you might "feel" about it.

Ok, back to work, jo (pity party for me) :boohoo::boohoo::boohoo:

Ok, a few things I've been able to improve on with attitude change......

1. My laundry is always caught up. Years ago, when I did my own laundry, I would let it pile up until nobody had any underwear and then I would do laundry all day and hate it and feel sorry for myself. For years, I had help with my laundry and didn't think much about it, but when my laundry lady (like a second mother) retired at 83 (!), the job came back to me. With memories of the old laundry piles, I decided to change my attitude about it and enjoy it instead of making it a huge chore. Granted, I don't have as many loads as when we had kids at home, but I'm not procrastinating and it's effortless to get the laundry and ironing finished....I actually told my husband last week, that I was glad to have the job back and that I enjoy doing laundry.

2. The dogs. This is a work in progress, but I am making progress. Don't anyone blast me, but I'm gonna say something that I know is unpopular on this board. I am not a dog lover. Ok, I said it. The problem is that my husband is the biggest dog lover I know. We have struggled with the difference for 30 years. Sometimes I won, sometimes he did. Of and on, we have had dogs outside and inside. Right now, we have 2 English setters in the house. We own 3 dogs, but one is in Texas being trained. When I found out he was being sent there, I said "send MEEEEEE". Anyway, I've been trying to change my attitude about the dogs. It's really hard when to you, dog = mud, hair, noisey barking, etc., not to mention inconvenient. I'm not to the point where I can say I like dogs, but I can say that I have a sort of affection for our dogs when they aren't being a PITA. I have bended my strict rules about the dogs and I'm not freaking out at every dirty foot print. I'm trying to be reasonable and act "as if" I like the chaos.

Enough for now, maybe more later. Gotta have coffee.

you realize that, in addition to your heterosexuality, there is a reason we cannot be together now.

I knew there would be a backlash. But, I gotta be meeeeee. And I don't consider Lilly to be in the dirty, muddy, loud, hairy dog catagory....she's almost human.

Just had to come back and add:

I didn't freak out when I gained water weight from Aunt Flo! Yet another tiny milestone. Now it's documented.

I'm thin and I love it!

The laundry is my nemisis! It drives me nuts. My "laundry habits" are exactly like yours were, before you changed. We had "Mrs Nakatani" when I was young. She did all our laundry and house cleaning. In hind site, that was a terrible decision by my mom to have a cleaning lady. I need to adopt your attitude Jo, and make this laundry thing something to enjoy! :|

Kanani, Try throwing in a load/day then finishing up on the weekend. (or if you're stay-at-home, just pick a day to finish up)

I keep up with the ironing by making sure I do it all every week, so even if it's only a few shirts, I do them. Another ironing tip: Buy Brooks Bothers no-iron 100% cotton dress shirts. They're a bit pricey, but you barely have to run an iron over them.

Ok, back on topic:

132 today.

We have our annual investment club dinner tonight. Goin' to a swanky Pittsburgh restaurant and staying over downtown. It's a great group of friends......great food, too. We pay for the dinner out of our earnings, hehe. Even with blowing all that money, this club is a great example of how it pays to save. We've been contributing a small amount ($25 at first increasing to $100 now) to the club each month for 22 years. Our money has more than quadrupled. It's not enough to retire on, but hey, it's a painless way to get a little nest egg going.

My financial advice for the day: Save a little bit each month even if you think you can't afford it....even if it's only $10! It will grow. When you have a little built up, get financial advice from a professional, invest it in a good mutual fund and watch it grow. Ok, I'll give you one more bit of advice: Roth IRA! Just do it!

Tonight I will eat a good meal, in reasonable amounts so as not to feel pain. I may or may not have dessert if something looks good and if I have room. That's my plan and I'm sticking to it!

Edited to add: I'm going to wear my size 6 Ann Taylor gold and black velvet skirt w/a body hugging black knit top and the appropriate jewels. I may have to wear my muck shoes, though......it's nasty outside!

131 today. 4 pounds under goal. Not too shabby.

Well, I didn't end up wearing the Ann Taylor skirt because the weather didn't cooperate and we had major blizzard conditions. I decided on a Cold Water Creek Copper jacket and slinky copper blouse with black slacks. A bit more boring, but still flashy and warmer. At least hubby told me I looked nice and he's the one that matters.

Warning: Foody talk ahead

We had a wonderful meal. They just kept bringing plates of finger foods at first.....all kinds of cheeses, pate, olives, veggies, meats. They brought "shrimp shooters". I had never had one, but it's a jumbo shrimp in a shot glass with a shot of bloody mary.....quite fancy. I can't even remember all the "tasting" menu, but it was yummy. The breads were fantastic and I had to use restraint there, hehe. Then came the appitizers.....crab cake, roast duck brushetta, and rosotto ball. Main course was a choice of tenderloin, salmon, or gnocci with truffels. I chose the salmon. Mark chose the tenderloin. They came like pieces of artwork......just like on TV!!!, lol. Dessert was the chef's choice - little cheese cakes with fresh berries, cream puffs with ginger ice cream, and chocolate brownie topped with chocolate moose......just enough for a few bites of each.

I did as planned, I had what I wanted in moderation. I could have eaten a full round of the brie, but stopped myself after 3 bites. Bread is still a trigger for me, but I know that and I act accordingly. It was really easy to eat that great meal and not come out stuffed and uncomfortable. I amaze myself!

I thought I may have to go back on program for a few days, but seems I'm still maintaining at 4 pounds under goal, so all is good.

I love cheesecake! Maybe that's why I watch all those Golden Girls reruns on Lifetime. Glad you had a bite or two!

Wow sounds like you had a great time. Good for you.

1 thing about the Laundry though. I hate doing it. Eventually I will get around to doing it. But sometimes my husband will be off during the middle of the week and he thinks he is helping but not. He washes everything then drys it and stuffs it in baskets. By the time I get home everything is Wrinkled :uhuh: I have asked him if he is going to do laundry that he needs to fold. He stills does not listen.

But anyways great job of staying under weight. :bravo:
