I'll chip in for anything except fur. You're on your own with that one!! (Although I could let my dogs sit there for a while; that'll leave it covered with hair, at least.)

Okay, Fur's out!
JO and LAUREN,
I honestly feel so un-un-unworthy of you two.
Your accomplishments have been so much greater compared to mine.
You can't know what an inspiration you continue to be to all of us on the forum.
If I could, I would engrave gold stars on your goal posts! :goldstar: :goldstar:

Awwww, Liz, you are too kind. The real work starts at maintenance and you are becoming a master at that!

Ok, so to date, I've lost 137 pounds. In one more pound, I will have lost as much as I weigh! I look at my body and can't believe that I used to carry around another me! To think that I've lost a whole person, well, I just can't think on that too much because then I start looking at parts of my body and realizing that I've lost a whole foot, a whole hand, a whole boob, lol.....then, I start thinking too deep and realized I've lost half my brain.

Better to think of other things, lol. Thanksgiving is coming and we are taking the family to a very nice restaurant for a buffet dinner. I have decided that I will have my usual L & G, but I will add a few bites of anything that I want....a bit of stuffing, a bit of potato, maybe even a few bites of pumpkin pie. Then, since I'm not quite at my goal, I will be right back on program the second the dinner is over. I have debated about this, because I am a stubborn person and throughout my diet, I have not cheated even once. I was thinking of just treating Thanksgiving as any other day and sticking to my program, but I realize that it's really time for me to start dealing with these situations. What better time to face it than on a holiday where food is the focus. So I will eat what I think is very reasonably and move on........Thankful that I am now thin and that I can make good choices.

I think that's a smart idea, Jo. You're so close, and I think it'll help you prepare mentally if you see that you CAN eat just a little of those things and then go right back to eating properly. Good for you!!

Had to tell you...was riding beside my 11 year old granddaughter recently. She mentioned she weighed about 65 pounds.
Some smarty chimes in and announces, "Hey, grandma's lost as much as Evin weighs!" Okay, so I've really lost a whole granddaughter!

JO, you are as wise as an 'old owl" and as beautiful as a "peacock"!
You already know what to do at maintenance...just what you plan to do at Thanksgiving!
You will have a magnificent time with your family at Thanksgiving.
Your menu sounds scrumptious and how delightful it will be to eat without a smidgen of guilt.
And hey, great time to take those "almost-after" pictures!

We just spent the last 4 days moving our office......ugh. What a job! The movers were great, though, and very very patient with me as I changed my mind over and over and over again, lol. I worked until after 7:00 on Saturday because I can't stand not having things in order. The only problem right now is that our network isn't up and I can't figure it out except that I think that one of the patch cables might be wonky. So today, I will test all the cables and drive myself crazy and get no real work done for the 5th business day in a row......so much for billing this month, lol. All in all, though it has been a pretty smooth move. I'll try not to complain too much about the little things.

The good news for me is that I have 2 huge windows in my office. I loved our old place, but my office had no windows. This office is in an old victorian building. All of our furniture is modern....clean lines, cubicles, etc......and I was afraid it would look out of place in the older building, but really, it works very well.

On the Medifast news front: I tried the beef stew. Love it! It did need a little bit of salt & pepper, but mmmmmm, it was good. We had a fire in the fire place, turned on the Steeler game (yay Steelers!)....and I had my beef stew. It was just as nice as when I make a big pot of chili for the game.....made me feel all cozy and warm. I'll be ordering more.

It snowed today. Won't someone tell me why I live in a cold climate when I love heat??? My nose is cold. I'm sitting on my hands to try to warm them. My nose is sniffly. My toes are cold. I want the ocean and warm. Why do I live in PA???????????

3 pounds to go. For some reason, these last several pounds are dropping pretty fast.....hope that didn't jinx me, lol......~knocking on wood~

Hubby is pressuring me again, but I just told him...."we're talking about 3 pounds and for me it's very symbolic and necessary that I reach my goal. I know that 3 pounds won't make a difference, but I have a goal that I need to reach" He accepted that at least for today. It was so funny last night in the middle of the night, I woke to him trying to pinch an inch on me, lol. He said "You are really there, you know".....In my groggy state, I remember saying.....yes....I know, just 3 more pounds. He can't sway me, hehehe.

Hey, Jo! Figured I'd answer you here ...

It's approximate, but a gram of carb or protein has about 4 calories and a gram of fat has about 9. So it depends on what sort of balance you're looking for.

But if you want, say, the BFL split of 40-40-20 and you're eating 1200 calories, you'd want about 120 grams of carb, 120 grams of protein and 26-27 grams of fat. (You might want to double-check my math. Someone was talking to me while I did it.)

Hi

Postby dede4wd » November 26th, 2006, 3:49 pm

Well, the transition and maintenance club is REALLY gonna be rockin' soon! Can't wait to join you guys!

I totally understand your symbolic need to see goal. I was 12lbs from goal when I fell off. Just this "I am so close, I'll have a little this" snowballed into a full-fledged off and I didn't see goal. I will though. I'm so thrilled for you and KNOW you will breeze through transition and maintenance.

Plus I'm doubly happy for myself because you guys will have such great tips for me when I get there!

Happy for you! You lost a YOU! WOW!

Had a very active and fun weekend. After our Thanksgiving dinner, on a whim, we decided to take the Jakester home with us for a few days. I'm so glad we did. He got to spend some valuable time with his uncle Dan, and we just love having him with us. On Friday, we went over to my sister's house where there were still lots of cousins around for Jake to play with. We stayed all day and he still didn't want to leave, lol. Then on Saturday, we went to the cabin and I cooked our Turkey dinner. That was great except for the fact that we don't have a dishwasher at the cabin, argh.

In all, I ate off plan twice this weekend in small amounts. I don't know what I expected.....well, I do know. I expected to be kicked out of ketosis and have a struggle getting back on plan. Well, that didn't happen. I just ate the extra stuff at my L&G meal....didn't eat anything in between or take any extra bites while preparing, etc. Then, I got right back on plan for the rest of the day. I must be one of the lucky ones, because I have had no trouble getting back down to business.

One more stinkin' pound to go, but really I have felt like I'm at goal for weeks. Now, when people ask me, I tell them I'm finished losing. I feel so comfortable with how things are. I know that I won't be changing very much in my eating plan, just adding a few things here and there until gradually, I'm eating 2 L&G's per day and having only 3 supplements and a snack of fruit and protien. Not a whole lot different than now. I have learned over this year that I can not go back to my old ways if I want the rewards that being thin give me. I have come so far.....I'm no longer the self pitying blob that I was.....awwww poor me.......NOT. I am so lucky to be where I am right now. Giving up food is a tiny price to pay for this happiness. There is just nothing more important than my sanity!

I expect the pressure from family and friends will begin soon to "just have a little", but I have my battle gear ready. I can take them on, no sweat!
