Yeah, but unless you really wanted it, why NOT say no?

I know what you mean about the mental aspect, though. I think my perception of myself has grown as I've shrunk. So whereas when I started, I couldn't imagine getting below an 8, now I look at my size-6 jeans and think they look huge. And that I look huge, too. Sigh. So much for all that cognitive self-therapy.

JO~ I love Chico's too. Unfortunately I have to go all the way to St. Louis to shop at one. I'm glad you enjoyed your shopping day.

I think changing the way you see things is just going to take time. I'm not an expert on it or anything, but I believe that you are probably making small strides every day and don't even realize it. I know I will have trouble seeing myself as anything but fat, because I have spent most of my adult life fat. You look fantastic, Jo. You have inspired so many and continue to do so every day.

Hi Jo: How exciting - remodeling your kitchen. I didn't even knew they had quartz. We built a house a couple years ago and with four kids I did not want any type of counter top they could ruin so we just stuck to the formica.

I am always interested in your journey and how things are going. I hope as time goes by that your perception of yourself will match to your body size. That way I will know that if that happens to me - it can be conquered. Keep up the good work Jo.

I just look at the size 6 and think "that'll never fit me". Much of the time I feel like i'm on the edge of a cliff waiting to be pushed off. My relationship with food isn't where I want it to be either. When we went out for dinner last night, the waitress asked if we wanted dessert and I said no out of habit......but I could have some! If I want it, I can have it occasionally. I have a long way to go.

We should all feel so 'warped in the head', if we had your looks to go along with it!
I suppose we may always have some eery feeling about falling off the edge of a cliff.
Even at my very lowest weight today, if I let myself think about it, I almost panic that tomorrow I'll be back up 5 pounds!
I still turn down dessert at a restaurant after all this time...but as ROBIN said, I don't necessarily want it!
Now at home, I allow a favorite treat (dessert) usually on Sunday.
But I think this is a good habit to develop for the rest of our lives.
I don't feel like I'm missing out ...yet!
So we rock along, and in time our heads and our bodies will line up.
Meanwhile, we love our rocky ride!

Thank you ladies.

I think as time goes on and I prove to myself that I can keep the weight off, I'll start to relax a bit. When this 4 months turns into a year, then 2, the evidence will convince me, I think. Could this be post traumatic stress? Hmmmm wonder if I could get disability, hehehe.

I do know that the motivation is there to stay thin. Having been on "the dark side" for so long, my memory is etched with those feelings and thoughts and even actions that go with that lifestyle. It was a prison that I have no intention of returning to. I have been paroled and I am reformed!

If I don't get a chance today (it's tax day, you know), I want to remind you all that I'm going away and won't be posting for a week. Hubs and I are going to enjoy a well earned trip south (he still hasn't told me) to soak up some rays, catch up on some reading, and just relax. I can feel the sun already.......and seeing as it's still snowing here in PA, I can't wait!

Have a good week everyone and keep shakin'.

Well, I've been back for 2 days and am finally crawling out of the mess on my desk.

Our destination was Jamaica for a few days and then Ft. Lauderdale. Jamaica was.....ummmmm.....an adventure. Glad to have gone, but don't think I'll go back. Ft. Lauderdale was great, though. We stayed at Pier 66 where all the ships come in to dock. Saw some amazing yaghts and of course all of the cruise ships. Ate some reeeeealllllyyyyy good food and paid dearly, but hey, it was vacation! Actually, the most expensive meal for the money was breakfast one morning. Bagel, eggs, coffee.......are you ready???........$22 plus gratuity. When the man brough the bagel, there was no cream cheese, so I asked for some. He kind of rolled his eyes and said "Well, that will be extra". I rolled my eyes back and said "Ok, how much is the cream cheese?" I guess my eye rolling worked, because he brought it and didn't charge me any more. After that experience, next morning we took a biki walk to Starbucks a few blocks away, lol. (thought of you bebes)

Had many NSV's. Sitting by the pool in my new tankini and not feeling like a freak, having a sales lady help me pick out a belt and say "What size are you....you must be a small" (I remained calm, but inside I was definately freakin' out....WWWOOOOOOPPPPPPPIEEEEE), making good food choices at least most of the time, allowing myself a dessert or two with full confidence that I can cut down now to compensate.......lots of NSV's!

All in all, it was a very relaxing vacation. It made us forget about work and that was our goal.

I came back 3 pound heavier, so as of the day of my return, I'm on a 4&2 until I'm back down to my comfort zone......even though 3 pounds doesn't look any different or feel any different, I know it is different. This is how maintenance works.......enjoy, but remember to compensate.

It's good to be back home eating my MF comfort food again.
