Well, folks, we have a beautiful baby boy.......LUCAS JAMES MCKINLEY was born at 7:21 pm on Tuesday evening. I arrived at the hospital at 7:15 pm! He is already watching out for his gramma!

We have already bonded. He was so alert after birth.....and so calm. Childbirth is such a miracle. I'm already talking to the kids about maybe a few more.......

Got on the scale this morning and I'm so close to goal without being there! Waaaaaa, lol. I weigh less than 136, but the dang scale won't level out at 135. I'll keep y'all posted......maybe by Sunday roll call?

Ohh! Mazel tov, Jo, how awesome is that! Yes, babies are a miracle, and they always seem to put life in perspective for me.

I hope your DIL and Son are doing wonderfully well, congrats to you all!

It's been awhile since I posted in my journal. Alot has been happening here. I've lost track of my days since my new grandson was born. Just got back from helping out the new parents. Man, I was a cleaning fool yesterday. Their house is spit shined! I can't believe how much energy I had and more than once realized that I couldn't have done this for them a year ago. When I left their house, it was clean, every stitch of laundry was done, the fridge was full of good stuff to eat.

I haven't weighed myself in days because I was there and they don't have a scale, but I've remained compliant (I know, I know, I need to start transition....soon), so I know I'm on track.

My husband decided to try Nurtisystem for men......well, he lasted 2 days. Couldn't stand the food and was beside himself with hunger......sooooooo we have $300 worth of stuff to use up. I'm looking at labels to see if there's anything I can include in my maintenance plan. Looks like I'll be able to have the entrees and some of the snacks. I'll need to be careful, though, because many of the foods are pretty high in carbs. They have a soy crisp that is almost exactly the same nutritional value as the MF crisps. It won't all go to waste anyway. It's funny......I had a pretty good feeling that this would happen, but he had to try it himself to find out. He really doesn't have that much weight to lose, so his motivation isn't very strong. I told him that I had a much easier time because of the desparation factor.....I really believe it's true.

He says he's gonna call Dan Marino and ask him how many millions Nutrisystem paid him to lie on TV, lol.

I considered trying Nutrisystem once, but those brownie-a-day promises scared me. I never considered Jenny Craig because Kirstie Alley bugs the crap out of me more than whole flaxseed.

I am highly suspect of any weight loss plan that promises you can eat whatever junk you want. That is how I got fat in the first place!

Loving your journal Serendipity.

Hi Jo, you've been missed. I knew you'd be with the new parents and grandkids! You are a wonderful Mom to help them like that. I remember clearly the help I got when home from the hospital and appreciate it to this day. Those days are so tiring and challenging and having someone to take care of cleaning shopping, laundry is truly a blessing. And how cool is it to have the energy it takes to do this!!
Thanks for being such a great MF role model!

Well, I've been doing some additional transition research and it seems I'm on track by waiting for my weight to level off. One place at the MF sight said to wait 2-3 weeks after reaching goal to start transitioning! So, I'm feeling less pressure to start now. I weighed 136 this morning....felt a bit of water retention.....ain't it great being a woman?

I don't know where I've gotten all of this energy. Today, I did all the laundry and ironing, including stripping the beds, continued the Christmas decorating, cleaned up most of the clutter that had accumulated during my absense, and I'm still going strong. Will put the finishing touches on the decorations this evening, then we'll get the tree tomorrow. If I can get my hubby to put it up, we'll decorate it tomorrow.

Jo,
I agree with you! I plan to start transitioning slowly as well, I want to make sure goal "sticks." And I'm going to transition slower than the book says, just to get used to each dose of new food.

I think you're doing so well and you are such a great personal inspiration to me!

Well, there's no denying it. It's time to start transition. I weighed 133 this morning.....2 pounds under goal. I think my weight has stablized.

Today, I will have a tossed salad with my lunch......that's gonna feel wierd, but I'm up for it.

Believe me when I say........Nothing tastes as good as thin feels! I can't even describe what is going on in my mind. I'm turning into a thin person inside and out.....and it feels great!

Jo, what a beautiful person you are :). I love your description that you are turning into a thin person inside and out. You will do great in transition, and great in maintenance... and I thank you for your inspirational weightloss.

Cheers,
