Food journal update: Doing ok. Forgot yesterday, but went back and did it this morning. I don't know how I'm gonna be able to keep it up when I'm eating actual food, but I know that I have to. This is getting serious, though. I'm getting pretty close to my goal and I want this to be a habit by then.

Alot is happening here. We lost our lease at the office and have had to scramble to find new space. In our little town, that's easier said than done. Guess we're moving back to Main Street. It will be nice.....it's just a royal pain to move. The office layout is completely different and our cubicles probably won't work there, so that's 8-10+ thousand to get set up, grrrr. I was so happy where we were, but the landlord made it impossible for us to stay.....especially when my husband, the CPA, put all the numbers on paper and I saw what staying would cost us.......sometimes he is so danged logical! :x Oh yeah, and a local attorney (friends of ours) are moving into the building at the same time, so we're going to plan a holiday open house.....should be a nice way to get the word out about the move.

Our party at the cabin is Saturday and since I've been concentrating on floor plans, I haven't been able to stress about it until this morning. But now, I can give it my full attention, lol. I'm making all kinds of stuff that I love, but won't eat. It'll be enough to watch our friends enjoy it. I am planning a few things for me. I'm serving smoked salmon, we're going to BBQ humongous shrimp on the grill, I'm having a vegetable tray, and I may even BBQ some veggies and cut them into bite sized pieces.....if I have time. I'll be happy.....just give me my coffee, an RTD, and my L&G and I'll be fine.

Weight: 150! I got to move the big weight from 150 to 100 + 50 today.....WAAAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Food journal update: Doing so-so. I've posted it every day, but didn't do yesterday until this morning. Not acceptable! Must do better.

Well, I got up this morning and my weight was 149! Ok, I'm freakin' out just a little. I can actually say that I'm getting close to my goal.....14 more pounds and there I'll be. My mind can't comprehend that, yet. It's still in "going strong" mode and is having trouble considering that this phase is about to end. It has been thinking much more about transition and maintenance lately, though, so maybe I don't have to do anything consiously. Maybe my subconsious mind will just take me where I need to be.......hmmmmm.....it hasn't always been my friend.

You're doing great, Jo!! As for the journal, I usually do mine the night before (basically right before bed), although sometimes I do it in the morning. It's pretty much become a habit, just like working out or getting my Medifast foods ready for the day or whatever. It doesn't take long if you eat the same things a lot, like I do.

Robin, Thanks for the idea of posting the journal the night before. Yeah, it's not like my diet varies much. I know pretty much what my supplements will be in advance and my l&g is usually something I can predict.

That's a great help! Duh, why didn't I think of it?

Food journal update: I posted my food for today first thing this morning. I think that may work for me because there's hardly a morning when I don't sit down for a few minutes at my puter.

I found new wrinkles this morning. I don't know if it's just the way I slept or if they're here for good. When I was fat, I didn't have a wrinkle and people commented all the time that I looked much younger than my age. But now, they're popping out everywhere and I feel like a great grandma instead of just a grandma. I know it takes time for skin to catch up with the weight loss, but I'm gonna need to start using clothes pins to keep my skin from dragging on the floor!

Note to self: The wrinkles are much less of a burden than the fat that filled them.

Nuther note to self: Eh-hem, girl, it's time to step up the exercise a bit.

Jo, there are a couple things you can do if you want to. First use a non-soap cleanser. Aveda makes a nice one that has never upset my skin. Another is to buy an at home dermabrasion kit and use it 1-3 times a week. You can also use the glycolic peel kit at home 1-3 times a week. If you get regular facial massage it will keep the blood flowing to the areas which will keep the skin tone nice. And there are special moisturizers out there with aha in them to help smooth the wrinkles and make them less noticeable. I can't use those because my skin is too sensitive but I heard they work nice enough unless the wrinkles are super deep.

JO,
You are doing wonderful and you're such an inspiration!
I totally relate to your concern about transition and maintenance, but believe me you have nothing to fear!
You said it, your subconscious mind will take you right where you need to be from transition and will lead right into maintenance.

Nice thing is, everyone will do it in his own special way.
I am enjoying knowing that I can eat even things I would not have allowed myself with a perfectly clear conscious.
Tonight I will eat pizza for the first time since I began in January.
I have indulged occasionally in eating my favorite lemon meringue pie without an ounce gained!

I carefully choose only those things that I really, really want and adjust my meal schedule that day to accomadate it.
It is exciting! And to think you are almost there!

Congratulations ahead of time for your huge success in reaching goal!
BTW, I mentioned in another post that I love your new avatar!

Thanks for your words of encouragement, Liz. It's just the fear of the unknown, I guess. I really feel quite sure that I have the tools I need to maintain this time......plus I'm older and wiser!

Food journal update: Doing fine. Posting in the morning seems to work.

Our party went very well last night. Of course, there was enough food to feed an army. Several of my friends hadn't seen me for a month or two and seemed amazed at my change. I do think that as we get closer to goal, the change is more dramatic. It only makes sense because with every pound, I'm losing a higher percentage of my total weight than I was at the higher weights. The girlfriend of one of my husband's friends hadn't seen me since January and she didn't recognize me.

Another of my friends who is quite overweight pulled me aside to discuss my weight loss. She says she is starting the Shackly (sp?) plan that sounds similar to Medifast, but they have added Shackly products to supplement. She went off for the party and actually as we were talking, she was eating a crab puff, lol. I told her that if she could, she should try to stick with it strictly for a week so that her body can adjust to the change. Then she went into how it's so hard and she has to cook for her son and husband and she's busy and has trouble fitting it in. I listened. She may not be ready. :?

Hi Jo,

Congratulations! You are almost at goal, what an amazing accomplishment

You know, I have friends and acquaintances say they want to know about the program. I explain it to them and they usually say something like 'how can I do that program and still eat the foods I like?' or 'I really like to eat so how can I be on the program and feel satisfied/happy' I usually tell them it is an individual choice to do it or not and that the program may not be for them. I have given away 2 of my quickstart guides to friends who said they really wanted to do the program. They have not started and every time they see me they talk about starting. After a while it just gets annoying. My attitude now is here is the information, do it, don't do it, your choice.

Keep up the great work. You are an inspiration to me

Food journal update: Dang, I forgot this morning because I had an early meeting.....but.....I have until bedtime to redeem myself.

I'm wearing a shirt today that I don't like, but it's a company shirt so I'm kind of obligated to wear it sometimes. It's a polo shirt. What I don't like about it is that it doesn't cover every bit of my saggy arms. I'm feeling selfconsious even though I look really good in my size 10 slacks.....shirt tucked in.....BELTED! I just hate my upper arms and don't like to share them. ~sigh~

Food journal update: Still keeping up. Still not a habit, though.

I had my me day today. Hair/nails/shopping. I really need a winter coat. It's getting cold here and I don't have anything but a jacket to wear.....well, until today, that is. I bought a Woolrich corduroy coat with a faux fur collar.....it's fine, but it's not down filled, so I'll still be looking for that. Ralph Lauren had an nice white on white one that I'm considering, but it's a little pricey, sooooooo. I also bought 2 wool sweaters and 2 turtlenecks at Woolrich. Tried on a bunch of size 10 pants, but didn't buy any. (I'm still amazed each time they fit, lol) I'm trying to use a little restraint.....not easy! Got a bargain at Cold Water Creek. A silk and cotten sweater for $9.99 marked down from $80!

This diet is getting expensive, hehehe.

I love Coldwater Creek! My sister loves it now too, since she drove off with almost all of my CC clothes in her car this weekend! I've already told DH that he can give me gift certificates or just cold cash for Xmas this year! By then, I might have gone through even the"skinny" clothes in my closet. Even so, I don't have enough of them for a full wardrobe--but then again, I'm a college student, so I can get by with just jeans and sweaters or sweatshirts for a while! 'Course I won't tell DH that 'cuz I love to shop!!

Between Cold Water Creek, Ann Taylor, and Liz Claiborne, I'm a happy girl.

BTW, CWC has sweatshirts!
