Seat belts and leg crossin' - what we CAN do now!

Postby Carrie » June 15th, 2004, 11:50 am

OK Landy, let's run with it!

Top 10 things my body can do now that it couldn't do 42.7 pounds ago:

1. Fit on the barstool WITH my drink too (my personal favorite for the time being).
2. Sit comfortably in my car without the seat belt buckle digging into my hip.
3. Throw my leg over the back of my bike to get on.
4. Do several flights of stairs a day without getting overly winded.
5. Get up out of the tub without straining.
6. Wear clothing that it couldn't even begin to get into before.
7. Walk several blocks with ease.
8. Fit easily into chairs that fit like a sausage casing before.
9. Go to a restaurant, order a salad and think of it as a TREAT.
10.Go to a restaurant and NOT order something fried.

Can I ever relate to the seatbelt extender AND the careful struggle to get up out of the bathtub--NO MORE, THOUGH!!! Additionally:

Attending my first step aerobic class this afternoon expecting to last a max of 10-15 minutes and actually going for 45 before stepping out.

Getting up out of a chair or off of a sofa without having to scoot to the front of the cushion and hoist myself up using the arms of the chair--usually with a grunt.

Standing in line for a waiters' white jacket in a kitchen at a charity dinner where we were serving 300 pastors' wives and not worrying that they wouldn't have a jacket that would fit me.

Along the same lines, putting on a smock in a mammogram mobile unit an not worrying that it would lack 8 inches in front of meeting. (Now I KNOW Mike can't identify with that one!)

Being able to sit in the rocker on the front porch and actually bringing up both feet onto the seat as well.

Walking into ANY clothing store and finding that ANY 'Large' will fit just fine.

Having my son's eyes light up when I walked into the kitchen one morning with a new outfit on. "Wow, Mom, you are REALLY losing weight!"

Feeling 'normal' for the first time in years.

By the way, Jeanette, it was great seeing a post from you this evening. I even read one from Tami yesterday! I hope you both come back for good very soon.

We all miss you two. And, all of these beautiful 'newbies' out here need the combined wisdom of a couple of real pros...so to speak.

Take care of yourself.
