This is the first posting in my journal. I re-re-reupped with MF back in January, and started keeping track of my weight at the beginning February. Since then, I have lost 12 lbs! Before that, I know I lost more but it was too scary to contemplate getting on the scale to see what my real starting weight was. Yow.

I can't say that I will post too much in here, or that it will be fascinating to read. But we'll see.

Journaling really helps me keep myself accountable for what I have done and keeps me on track especially the few times I fell off plan I can look back to those days and see how I was REALLY FEELING :-) Enjoy and congrats for jumping on the train it's worth the ride!

I love the journals. You'd be surprised how many people are interested in your life. Mine's exceptionally boring, but people keep reading anyway!

Welcome!!

Glad you decided to start a journal, I'm finding mine a great way to keep my focus and on track. Also a great place to figure things out as others have given input as to what their experiences have been. I hope you'll find it a great help, too.

Bad Weekend

Postby Seaside » February 27th, 2007, 8:25 am

I had a migraine most of the week and was doing ok. My friends and I were going out to eat German food on Sunday (that is, I anticipated going off plan for that!) but on Saturday I went to get a massage to take care of the migraine. The massage was helpful, and on the way home I stopped to eat at my favorite vegetarian fast-food place (Evo's). Between that and the German food on Sunday, I felt as though I had royally screwed up.

Now it's back on plan for me, which really isn't that hard. I have to learn to reward myself with something other than food.

On Sunday I cleaned the bathroom thoroughly and if you can have fun cleaning a bathroom, I guess I did. It really makes a difference when it is much easier to bend over (in a small space no less) and scrub the bathtub or behind the toilet, etc. Mundane but important!

Good grief, I can keep beating myself up or I can remember that on the whole, I am still moving ahead and things are getting better. I should remember the cold chill I felt in my heart just a few months ago when bending over was NOT easy, when I tried to explain my wheezing breath away by saying it was an allergy, etc. etc.

Life isn't going to re-shape itself around me to accomodate the changes that I am making and need to make. I'll have to do that myself. Maybe that's been the problem all along, thinking that someone or something was going to magically rescue me. It's not easy but that's how it is.

Back on track

Postby Seaside » March 1st, 2007, 8:17 am

Weekdays seem to be easier for me because I am too busy to get into much mischief. Weekends are the killer, so I need to be vigilant about that. Anyway, after a week of buckling down the extra pounds I piled on over the weekend's debauch are gone and a bit more to boot. We'll see how Sunday's roll call goes!

And I actually like the chili now. It's not bad if it is cooked long enough.

Weekends can definitely be more difficult. I think just becoming aware of our weaknesses really helps in developing plans to overcome those weaknesses. Maybe try writing down somewhere your meal schedule for the entire weekend on Friday. If you plan on going out to eat for your L&G, try to write down what you can order that will be compliant.

Just some ideas.....

posting after about 3 weeks off

Postby Seaside » March 28th, 2007, 8:43 am

I like the idea of the journals but I don't have too much to say, really. The past few weeks were tough; I tried to stay on plan but things were stressful at work and I seesawed up and down (realllly up) and it got very frustrating. Mentally, I knew what I needed to be doing but emotionally I felt like the only thing that would reduce my stress was to eat something off plan.

Somehow, magically, over the weekend was a breakthrough. Instead of steadily going up or going back and forth between the same numbers, the scale moved DOWN. Finally, a net loss.

I can't explain how or why except that I consciously tried to drink a lot more water and stay on plan (duh). I admit I've been getting Lean Cuisine frozen meals, which aren't exactly L&G but they work in with my schedule -- which is crazy!!! If I keep up the good work, I should hit 20 lbs lost soon. I can really tell a difference in how my clothes fit, too. I can do it!

Exercise is the next step. How to find the time?
