I'm scared of my Vanilla RTD's

Postby electra000 » July 24th, 2006, 11:54 am

I have two full cases of Vanilla RTD's. These are the older ones that are in the juice type box. The expiration date is 8/14/06. This morning I stuck the straw in and took a drink and felt something weird in my mouth. It was like a brown slimey substance. I thought maybe it was the straw so I took another drink and it happened again. I was totally grossed out and threw it away. I cannot bring myself to drink another one now and I have two cases of these. I purchased these in May 2006. I do not know what to do now. I hate to throw away two cases of these, that's $100.00. I don't remember if I purchased these from TSFL or Medifast directly as I didn't keep the invoice. Anyone with suggestions please let me know. :x

They haven't expired yet. So I guess first I'd open one up and look at it; maybe it was just that one. If a second one is like that, I'd call.

Do you order them often? You can go through your previous TSFL orders online and figure out when you got them (and whether you got them there or directly from Medifast). That'll help you know who to call.

I have had that experience with some of my boxes. Sometimes there are a bunch like that and sometimes it is just a couple of them. And then there are times when the whole box is good. I've called MF and asked them about it and in that case you can call them and they will pick them up and send you a new box. It is gross and slimey thing to have in your mouth. I have a hard time drinking them like that. I once heard it might be the shake from the bottom of the barrell so it tastes like that but I am not sure so dont quote me on that. Best to you. But I cant tell you how good it is to have those RTD shakes.

I havn't had that happen to my rtd but I use to buy another brand ( we won't name names...lol) and sometimes the "stuff" at the bottom just wouln't mix in even with a good shaking. Were did you have them stored? If they were left in the heat that could cause the problem.

Thanks for the replys. Glad to know I am not the only one that has had this problem. When my stomach settles I will open a box and look inside. I am just queezy after that experience :puke: I have had them stored at my house in a cabinet. The chocolate RTD's that I ordered at the same time I ordered these had a longer expiration date (12/07) and were in the newer packaging. I think maybe they were trying to get rid of these or something.

I would just call them, they are usually really good at exchanging the item in question. We returned 4 boxes of Maple and Brown Sugar Oatmeal that didn't have any maple or brown sugar flavoring. They sent us 4 new boxes really quickly.

Good luck, keep us updated!

Yep, and they just overnighted me three CASES of RTDs when they sent me vanilla instead of chocolate.

Wow! I am happily suprised ! I called Medifast and told them I would like to exchange my Vanilla RTD's because there was a problem with them. I could not believe that I was not given a huge hassel about it. The lady was very nice. She gave me a return number to place on the box and told me they would send me two cases for the two cases I am returning. It's is nice to know that this company handles situations like these in the proper way without a big headache. I started to just throw them away because I didn't want to argue with a customer service person on the phone. Glad I called and that I was given great service. :D
