Postby Tammy » March 21st, 2006, 8:15 pm

hello everyone, I am new to this support group but looking forward to it..

I was wondering if there is a good scale out there? One that does not change everytime you step on it or move it around .. Something solid with correct weight loss or  weight gain

very happy to be on MF 6 days today and I am one of those people who step on the scale everytime I go into the bathroom I truly do not know my correct weight I know I need to lose 100 lbs but I want to keep good track .. thank you anyone for your help
Jesus is the reason for everything

Hi Tammy and welcome to the forums.

I can only speak from personal experience, but I trashed my old scale and got one of those shiny new scales they sell on the website. It is The Take Shape Digital Scale and I think it was around $23. I can honestly tell you it doesn't mind being moved around a lot because I travel 250+ days a year and this thing goes in the suitcase. I put them through A LOT more abuse than most people do and it has shined! I've seen similar scales at the Target-type stores in the $20-25 range.

If you weigh yourself after every trip to the potty, you're gonna drive yourself CRAZY! I had to hide mine for a while, but now I'm pretty good about weighing only every week (at the same time, I'm anal!). It's just so hard not to get frustrated with the daily fluctuations, so be careful with that!

Congratulations for making it through day 6!!!! You're almost through the REALLY rough part and soon it will be smooth sailing! Happy first week to you and I look forward to getting to know you on the forums!

We're winning, can't you tell?

Welcome Tammy! I hope you find these forums as supportive and friendly as I do. Everyone here is so nice!

We are supposed to only weigh ourselves once a week? The excel program Unca posted up here has every day spots for weight and measurements. I haven't done measurements everyday but I've done weight for the past few. Maybe I shouldn't till Sunday now. :)

Pashta

You can weigh as often as you want to it is just recommended for those of us who are "effected" by the scale that we only weigh once a week. I have thankfully learned not to let the scale affect my mood. It did take a while and honestly sometimes it is still aggravating to see the scale flucuate upward at times but by this point in the program I have learned that as long as I stay compliant to the program the scale is going to be headed south! As long as you are ok with weighing daily it is fine for you to do but if it effects you mentally or emotionally I would say weigh once weekly.

You are doing just fabulous!!

Have a shakin day

I also have the take shape for life scale. Although I was a little confused in the beginning on ordering what from where and actually got it from the main medifast site...I would have definatly got it from here had I been more alert. lol

This scale is digital, it measures in .2 oz increments as well and it "locks" onto the weight so no more bouncy scale. I LOVE IT!! lol

I do weight first thing in the morning every day. But , I do not expect to see a loss every day. In fact I say to myself you probably gained overnight.so when I didn't OR I actually did lose. It's a bonus!

You can do this!
Hugs,
Gina

I bought a tanita, as well, and really like it. In fact, I bought it from a website called QuickMedical dot com and got free shipping and a free fancy measuring tape, as well.

scale

Postby Redhed028 » March 30th, 2006, 7:05 pm

OMG I am sitting laughing. I thought I was the only nut who weighed themselves everytime they went to the bathroom. I am driving myself nuts. The only saving grace is that I have given away 10 bags of BIG clothes, so I know it's coming off fast.

I am trying to work up the nerve to hide my scale so that I stop this obsession!!!. Maybe tomorrow I'll be brave enough to hide it and go on with the program.

The craziest part is I know I am doing great and I often curse at the scale cause it's not moving. I know I am nuts :x but it's good to know there are other crazies here too.

I have the Weight Watchers scale. I got it at Bed Bath and Beyond for about $50.00. I love it because it isn't just .5 it goes to the .2s so you see every little loss
