Say "yes" to cilantro

Postby Arklahoma » April 6th, 2006, 2:59 am

I love fresh cilantro. Just read this and thought I would share:

Adding chopped cilantro to your salsa could help keep illness-causing bacteria to a minimum and protect your immune system.

Cilantro contains antibacterial compounds that may help inhibit Salmonella choleraesuis, a common culprit in food poisoning. The best safeguards against food-borne illness are still frequent hand washing and safe food handling practices. However, serving meals with a side of cilantro-seasoned salsa may be both a nutritious and protective bonus.

Yum!
Cilantro rocks! I am glad that it is good for you!

Now, what else that is great is also good for you?

Ark,

I am originally from India and cilantro is a very common ingredient in all our dishes. I just love it. In India, we believe Cilantro (in powder form or fresh leafy form) cleanses toxins from our blood.

When I first came to US, it used to be very hard to find cilantro in grocery stores, but now almost all grocery stores carry it. YAY!

Thanks for sharing that article....it just confirms my beliefs about it.

Role Model Mom...

I went to India a few years ago--and I just loved the spices--the beautiful colors and wonderful smells! Flowers everywhere. I even had a monkey on the deck outside my hotel room in Bangalore. Mmm, the food was great! You are right about the cilantro!

Chai tea there is wonderful, or as it was called where I was--Masala tea.

I bet you miss it.
Good luck on your losses!

Hey Lan,

Good to know that you liked India. Yeah...I miss it...especially the flowers .... summers are always filled with smell of jasmine flowers and mangoes!
Monkeys...yup...usually they are friendly unless you provoke them!

I make very good Masala tea (or so my family thinks!) Almost all indian restaurants here offer it on their menu!

Weight loss...I am doing pretty good on Medifast. I am also trying to do the L&G in Indian way...every now and then!

I am sure your journey with Medifast is going great! Good Luck.
