I am a cranky cranky person today. It's very bad when you get into a fight with your coworker that is so loud your boss-boss comes over from the other side of the building to ask if we were fighting.

My scale is away, and I am renewed in my commitment to my diet.

I just wish I wasn't feeling so depressed and irritable right now. My doctor put me on a new allergy pill last week, and I think it really messed with me. I've stopped taking it now.

Aw. I don't have a whole body shot since my last update to the studio. Maybe I'll get one this month, and I'll post it.

I'm feeling a lot of body dislike the past few days. I got my period and went on zyrtec. Both things seemed to completely mess with my moods. I had heard zyrtec could make depression worse, but man.. and then I forgot to take my lexapro yesterday which resulted in a killer crying jag last night. I think I will be able to stay away from the scale and on my diet through sheer force of will at this point. I'm just so angry at my belly tire and being lackadaisical about the plan this past month.

I'm only allowing planned departure from plan, in small quantities, and only for (what I think are) good reasons. and not spontaneously.

My goal is to be completely compliant Monday-Friday this week (since I screwed up yesterday). Depart from plan for the annual wine festival on Saturday. Next week's goal to be completely compliant Sunday-Saturday. Sunday starts my new week. One week at a time. I know I planned a week ahead, but hey I'm stopping myself at one week ahead for weekly goals. I'll make the next on Sunday.

I am doing much better today/now.

Yesterday I hopped back on the plan with a vengence. I thought a lot about what I was doing/ how I'm going to do it. I realized something very important. I haven't been watching the carbs on my meals. As you have all probably figured out by now if you put just the right combination of meals together you fly up to somewhere above 100g of carbs a day. The nutritionist says that some people don't have to worry about carbs early in the weight loss phase.. so I thought oh that's me. Er what? I've been on the plan for three months now. I don't think I can consider that early on..

uhm so anyway it's no wonder my control was shot all month. I was way over my carb count on a consistent basis. So now I am making my meal plan the night before and making sure it falls within the acceptable carb range. I think it will help me gain better control. I've also now shown myself that I can make it through a day without a bar :D which is cool for the days I have other higher carb meals in there.

And I keep thinking about the scale. I'm sure this'll go away once I make it through one morning.. haha, but it's in my mind.

I hope the vitamin b and biotin pills keep me from losing hair or having it stop growing.. it's really just started to look nice again.

too bad my arms are peeling. I really have to remember the sunblock for saturday.

My abdomen hurts so much today!!! I wish I knew why this happened. It doesn't happen often, but it really really hurts when it does! It's like my entire intestine is being twisted and crushed all at the same time. I wish I knew how to make this better.. just sitting and waiting for it to go away sucks. I don't even know what causes it, just that it happens infrequently.

I've been doing well with staying on plan. I haven't stepped on the scale. I want to though, but no. I won't.

Feet DO get smaller! Isn't that weird? I've had the same experience!

Don't listen to those folks about gaining the weight back. In my opinion, saving those clothes is like creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. No big deal to gain the weight because you already have the clothes. If, on the other hand, you only have smaller clothes you might be more inclined to work hard if they get too tight to keep that weight off.

What a bummer our "friends and family" can be, huh?

We all love you- you're doing great!!!

Hi Bets! I see you started a journal :) I'm about to go over there and read it. I hope things are going well for you!

No one has made a smart remark since that one time. Lucky them. They don't mention my weight loss, and I don't talk to them about it. There are a few people who were initially interested in what I was doing but seemed to become LESS interested as I lost more weight. weird.

Some of my abdoment pain has gone away. I spent a lot of time massaging and pushing on my tummy then went to the bathroom and pushed down a lot. My body is so weird. Does this happen to anyone else? Is it constipation?

I mostly get the opposite when I eat off plan, but only at first. Last week was the first time I was off plan for more than a meal, and the ickies went away after the first two meals. HA! Warning signs!

Have you tried a good walk? Sometimes that helps???

I'm so sorry- no fun to feel awful!

I had it bad too... Then I started to take a mild laxative at night. Also, I added fiber tablets to my diet. I just was stopped up. It can have the same symptoms you're feeling.
It's no fun, but try the above, and drink EXTRA water... Plain water, not crystal light. I find that also tends to make me constipated.

Ah yes I had suspected it was a little bit of a constipation problem. I'm just not used to such things since problems have always tended to be on the other side of the spectrum :) Maybe I should start adding fiber. I was thinking about adding a flax oil pill as well.

Ok so.. I just have to complain briefly. I was installed my new a/c last night so I didn't have time to plan my meals for today. I did it this morning as I was rushing out the door.

Here's what I set up for my meals today:

Iced Tea - Peach 12 g carbs
Soups – Chicken Noodle Soup 13 g carbs
Medifast Bars - Fruit & Nut Granola 24 g carbs
Medifast 55 - Dutch Chocolate 13 g carbs
Chicken breast for Lean and Green meal 2 g 7 oz
Broccoli 9 g 1.5 cup
Medifast 70 - French Vanilla 13 g carbs

Ok. So originally I had a shake instead of the iced tea. Luckily I had an iced tea with me because you may notice my carb count totals 86g!!! ARGH. Note to self: must have multiple cold drinks with the granola bar if you want a shot at a proper carb count. Or eat salad.

Just putting it out there as food for thought for the rest of you. If we are supposed to keep our carb counts between 80-85 it becomes increasingly hard with the bars in place. I'm going to stop at the grocery store on the way home and replace my salad stuff so I can skip out on the broccoli tonight. I may also have a tropical punch instead of the shake.

I have been trying to leave space for the unseen carbs in my meal plan. You know.. splenda, salad dressing, lemon, whatever.

Just remember this when you add in a bar, minestrone soup, oatmeal, pudding, etc because too many of those added together may throw you over the line.

---

I really sort of wish the wine festival wasn't this weekend. I'm doing so well this week that I'm worried the wine tasting will completely mess me up. I hope I'm wrong.

Sarya,

Just a FYI. I don't count the carbs as long as I'm on plan. I think the 80-85 count is suggested if you are having trouble losing. You seem to be doing just fine.

Some days I have less, some more. I don't care as long as I am losing.

Whew! That's good to know, Jo. I've never counted my carb intake; I just figured that all I needed to do was stay on plan. So far, so good, for me.

Sarya, congrats on such a good week!
