Salad Dressing

Postby MerryMary » January 13th, 2007, 6:39 pm

I have some salad dressing packets from NutriSystem and I wonder if they fit the criteria for the L&G meal.

Nutrition Facts:
1 oz. serving size
20 calories
0g Fat, Cholesterol, Protien, Fiber
4g Carbs
4g Sugars
240mg Sodium

If this is not compatible with MF can someone recommend a better salad dressing?

Thanks!
Mary

I'm not sure, but just by looking at the nutritional facts, there seems to be alot of sugar in there.

The TSFL guide says you can have any low fat or low carb dressing that has 6gms or less of carbs per 2T serving. Obviously, the lower you go, the better off you will be. And calories are important just to watch.

If you like italian, Ken's Light Northern Italian has only 1 carb gram per 2T serving!! It is awesome! And if you like ranch, HIdden Valley only has 2 gms per serving. Also, I found a low-fat one I prefer called Naturally Fresh Low Fat Ranch (in the salad bag section, with Marie's) that only has 2 gms of carbs, and only 80 cal per 2T serving ~

Just some ideas :)

p/s ~ where in texas are you from? there are some of us in the dfw area that are going to try to get together for a l&g next month if you're interested~ :)

Try Wishbone's Salad Spritzers. One calorie a spray and 1 carb for 10 sprays!

Thanks for the help everyone!

Casma--Mary: ... it was especially helpful to learn about the carb value in the dressings. Guess I was more concerned about the calories. I'd love to meet up with y'all for a L&G! I'm just east of Dallas so can hook up with you most anywhere.

I've heard of folks using Walden Farms dressings, and some have said they taste good.
I usually go with the lowfat or fat free caesar's

Those were the dressing of choice when I was on the board before-very much talked about. Never tried them myself.

At home I use Walden Farms. I like the ranch and the creamy bacon. Honey mustard is ok, too.

In restaurants, I usually use oil/vinegar. Sometimes I use the low fat that restaurants have, but not very often because they are usually high carb. Gottal look for low fat/low carb dressings.

Personally, I hate the Walden Farms dressings. At home I use Maple Grove Farms, mostly their sugar-free balsamic vinaigrette but the others are good, too. If I'm out, I usually get regular dressing on the side and dip my fork into it before each bite of salad. You'd be surprised at how little you use.
