Hiya Bsmith. You tuned into a great place for support and ideas with the MF program.

I see you are a displace CAgirl.......displaced to Wichita of all places, you poor little thing. I am originally from Victoria, Ks. (close to Hays in case you aren't familiar). Been in California since 1989. I feel your pain sister.

Thanks for the encouragement Monkeymom and C~,

Monkeymom we almost traded places, I came to KS in 1990! I am originally from San Diego. I love the culture here, but sure do miss the ocean...

C~ How long has it taken you to lose your current wieght? Looks like are loss needs are similar. I am doing well these first few days, it seems pretty easy. I hope it continues to go that way.

Hey there CA Girl!!

Glad you are doing well these first few days. I think this is easy - except for meals with friends & family but they are all food pushers!!! Not because I am tempted (because I haven been tempted by anything at all since I threw away my fat clothes and bought new and improved stuff) it is just annoying to continually have to explain my choice to stick to MF! I just ignore them and keep getting skinnier! :)

I started "Project Catherine" (my big regular food/major exercise diet after getting dumped) on August 1st and lost 9.8 lbs before starting Medifast exactly January 7th!

I have lost exactly 20 lbs on Medifast since Jan 7th... 20 lbs in 7 weeks. Not bad at all being it took me 4 months of grueling exercice and diet to lose the first 9.8 lbs!!!

Love love love Medifast!!!

I am on full fast but will do a lean and green in emergencies (have 2 times so far) and will usually add some approved veggies to my soup to make them better. I also excercise about 5-7 times a week for 45 mins. which slows the weight loss down but it is worth it to me cuz I look and feel GREAT!!!

You sound dedicated and have a great attitude about thi s- I know you can do it!!!!!

Shake it CAGirl!!

Hey CAgirl. Glad to hear that things are going well for you. I had almost no problems the first few days on the program, and it's been smooth sailing all along...........lucky me :) . I hit the 20 pound mark a couple of days after my third week on the plan. I did level off last week because of my monthly visitor, actually gained 2 pounds but dropped them a couple of days later. I've lost another pound or so since then, so the scale is once again going in the right direction.

I had to laugh when I read your post about "liking the culture" in Kansas. The culture is the thing I ran from as fast as I could, and have never looked back. But I was raised in a tiny town, 1,500 or less population, so it's a bit different than Wichita. Have they cleaned things up there? I know they were having horrible gang problems (far worse than LA's actually) for quite a few years in the late 90's.

WOW

Postby BSmith » March 2nd, 2005, 12:15 pm

WOW, I am so pleasantly surprised by all these welcomes and encouragement. It has been fun to read everyones comments...

I am on the 5 + 1 program, that way I can still eat something with friends and family. I have energy now everyday that I have not had in a very long time. So far I am really enjoying this plan as well as the products, which is a big pleasant surprise as well.

Good for you Catherine, that you were able to lose at all with out MF. I have been trying for 8 years now with the scale continuously creeping up each year no matter what diet I tried. I like to excercise also, but am leary as I don't want to be disapointed by not losing. What is it about excercise that slows down the wieght loss on this plan instead of inhancing it???

Regarding Wichita, KS...The gang problems have never been anything compared to San Diego. I was uncomforatable to go anywhere as their presence was always wherever you went, no matter what area you were in.

QUESTION: I notice you all have tickers... How do I update mine as I loose weight. I want to ready for Roll Call this Sunday...

Hope you all don't mind me replying to all on one reply, just seems eaiser that way! And I am into easy, must be why I like this plan! :)

Have a great day everyone... Blessings!

Heya B! :)

Welcome from me too! Glad to see you here!

Re your question about exercise slowing MF weight loss, it's because MF is an unusually low-calorie diet. If combined with a heavy workout, you can create too much of a calorie deficit for your body. In other words, your bod will go into Starvation Mode and aggressively protect :fence: your fat loss trying to "save" you from evaporating!

Of course, if you PERSIST in this, you will eventually lose weight, but you will be miserable trying to live on an effective intake of like 300 calories!

Not that you can't do ANY exercise cause you can... you just got to cut back and start off slow.

"QUESTION: I notice you all have tickers... How do I update mine as I loose weight. I want to ready for Roll Call this Sunday..."

(edited) The 3FatChicks ticker you can update just by changing the numbers in your Profile here. The TickerFactory one need to be recreated from scratch at their site, or you get the little white box with a red X through it instead of your ticker :)

Good luck with Roll Call! :byebye:

Great to hear from ya BSmith! Glad you are doing so welltoo - I have lotsa energy to and that is ALWAYS a plus!!

Sarah is absolutely right about the weight loss with exercise on MF. Cut it in half - it isn't worth it on MF! I alreday experimented with this thoery and exercised my booty into starvation mode and lost valueable time! Stalled for almost 2 weeks then added extra shakes and cut exercise in 1/2 and the weight dropped off!!

Shake on Sister!!

Ticker

Postby BSmith » March 2nd, 2005, 1:41 pm

So if I go to 3fatchicks.com
I can create a ticker that can be updated in my profile?

Thanks for the input about exercise. Since I am new to this it makes me nervous to not exercise as before.

Blessings!

I know B! It IS wierd to cut back exercise when you are so used to it!!

I used to do Taebo for a grueling hour a day and now I get to just do yoga or bellydance around the living room... all at low intensity! I LOVE it!! I promise it makes sense...burn TOOOooo many calories and your body goes into starvation mode and hangs on to every little carb fat gram to live off of!! Burn the right amount and you turn into a fat burning machine... that's what I wanna be!!

Maybe do more weight training and less cardio instead... tone up what is about to become your skinny little booty!!

Hang in there!

Si, Senorita! :)

About the exercise, I understand your reluctance to cut back... it seems weird but hey, it works better this way!

I was on Weight Watchers for 3 years and so I got my brain trained a different way (more exercise = good!) too. But even on WW, there is a point where you are doing too much calorie burning, and again, your bod goes "whoa! let's keep those thighs chubby!"
