I am glad that I did the chores in the barn today (fed, threw down hay, cleaned stalls etc) and carried in a few arm loads of wood for the fire. Since I was sitting at the sewing machine all afternoon, at least I got some exercise. Speaking of exercise, I really need to come up with a formal program of some sort.
Uh, yeah, speaking of exercise...this sounds like a lotta calories burned to me Brenda!!!

Wouldn't you know - just my luck that a CT to find out what was causing my stomach pain would find "something of concern" on my right ovary and NOT find any explanation as to the stomach issue
Actually, look at it as it is "JUST YOUR LUCK". We will pray that it's nothing but it was actually a GOOD thing that something forced you to get a CT scan. Sorry that you had to deal with such bad intestinal/tummy issues but try to look at it as...everything happens for a reason. I'm glad that you are feeling better now and able to get back to plan. And just remember that we are all here for ya!

Yeah, everything that Erica said!
Speaking of ovaries.....for some reason, every time I looked at Erica's forum name, I'd read
"ovaries" in there somewhere! So, before the avatar, when I would read one of her posts,
I would think "ovary chick." So, with the avatar, now I'm picturing ERICA instead!

Anyway, back to this journal!
It really does seem like a lot of calories burned, Rodeo!
But maybe you're just used to those activities - ?? Perhaps you
can turn up the heat a little. For instance, while you're mucking
out the stalls, concentrate on body alignment. Flex your arm and butt
muscles, bend your legs and really focus on tightening your quad muscles.
You'll burn even more calories and I'll bet you'll feel the difference, too.
It might just motivate you to go on to a more "structured" routine.

Thanks for the "lift" Sojo, I never really considered my chores to be calorie burners. DUH!

I guess you could be right about being used to it. I just look at that as my daily life, not as calories burned. Good idea on concentrating on making what I already do more of a work out. Thanks. I used to wheel the wheel barrow to each stall and scoop from the stall into it. Recently, I started just leaving the wheel barrow in one place at the end of the aisle way and walking from the stall to it with each scoop. That way I feel like I am at least raising my heart beat a little more. Also, instead of filling a wheel barrow full of wood to wheel it to the house, I now walk back and forth (grab and arm load and carry into the house then go back out). Maybe I should get a pedometer just to see what I do accomplish in a normal day. Now that the horses are addicted to peppermints, I don't have to go out to the field to catch them anymore. All I have to do is shout "does anybody want a peppermint and they all come running. So much for that work out. So funny to watch them all crowd around so they can get their peppermints though.

Well, I am down another 3.5 pounds today and entering the 60 pound club. I sure needed some good news after such a yucky week. Feeling better now, but still worried over the "something of concern" on the ovary.

CONGRATULTIONS ON THE 60# CLUB!!!!!

And I totally agree with everyone else on the "exercise." You get more activity in a day than I get in a whole week.

I'll keep you in my prayers and hope that the u/s turns out to be nothing.

Thanks JSKM! I guess since it is my normal routine, it just doesn't seem like much to me. I am so excited to be in the 60# club!

My next goal is to be able to weigh in at physical therapy and NOT have to slide the weight to the 250 mark. When I started going there, I was too heavy for that scale and couldn't get a reading at all.

Well, how's this for a change? We have an 11 month old colt (Cash) who is obviously too young to ride. He needs to get out once in a while so instead of taking Tucker for a walk this evening, I took Cash out. At least he didn't stop to pee on every fricken tree we passed. After the walk I spent some more time in the barn, brushing and spoiling the horses. There is just nothing more peaceful to me than to be around such amazing animals. The peace of it all really did my soul some good. I am more at eaze about life in general and ready to start another week. Still have lots of sewing to catch up on so I plan on spending most of tomorrow in the sewing room.

Brenda, it seems soooo peaceful living on a farm. To go out and grab a horse to go for a walk??? Whoooda thunk it?? :) I would love to live on a farm for a week, simply for the experience. I'm a nature freak (even though im DEATHLY afraid of bugs) but im sure i could shovel poopy all day long as long as there are no spiders around (well maybe not ALL day). There used to be a dairy farm right here near my house and in the spring (perfect weather for opening up all the windows in the house) the smell of cow poop would be sooooo strong. Everyone always asked "How do you stand that smell?" To me, it was simply a natural smell that i had grown to love (not that i really like the smell of poop) but it just put me in a different place. Took me away from all of the hustle and bustle of this thing we call life and dropped me off in a place of tranquility. Well about 3 years ago, the farm closed down. I never thought i would say it but i miss the smell, it always let me know that spring was here. I also miss taking my son over to feed the cows. We moved here when he was 2 (he's 14 now) and i would take him over and stand him on the trough (i think thats what it is called) we would scoop up the food and the cows would eat it out of our hands. I just remember him being so scared at first, then eventually got used to it. Now that i think about it, i probably traumatized the poor boy. Even if the farm was still there, i doubt he would go now but i guess it was good while it lasted. Sooo many things we take for granted. Thanks for letting me take a trip down memory lane in your journal. :D

LLA - I so know what you are talking about. We used to take some of the animals to the church for the Easter and Christmas play (Deanna always thought it was so cool that her pony Turbo was the one who carried in King Number 3 to see the baby Jesus). Some city folks would come to pet the horse or the donkey and mention the smell. I had no idea what they were talking about. "What smell? OH, you mean the peacefull scent of hay and horse? I couldn't live without it." Now, I am not going to call the candle companies to suggest they try to duplicate that smell, but I just feel so comforted when I am in the barn.

Last week, when I was in so much pain, I went out to the barn and brushed my favorite mare, Roxy. She just loves to be brushed. I found myself just crying in her mane because I was so miserable, and she just stood there. She knew and she wanted to help.

In case you missed my Photo Bucket Link, here is is again.

Check out the sub-albums and you can see my journey on MF and videos of my daughter riding, or just photos of the horses.

Thanks - and by the way - you are welcome for a visit ANYTIME!!

MY PERSONAL RANT
WARNING - THIS WILL OFFEND SOME PEOPLE
IF YOU ARE ONE OF THEM, I MAKE NO APPOLOGIES FOR MY FEELINGS, however I do appologize if I hurt yours.

Ok, here goes - and I really do mean it - I know some will be offended by this, but I just gotta say it.

I try very hard to be supportive to folks on this forum, I really do. Lately, however, I am finding it very difficult to continue to pat people on the back and say, "Oh, its OK. I know you didn't mean to cheat. Just get back on plan and everything will be OK." But the same people over and over keep coming back to say that they have fallen off plan again.

I am just beginning to wonder how serious these folks are about using this program to get healthy and get thin. This is serious people! There should be NOTHING more important to us than MF. MF is going to get us thinner and healthier. I mean NOTHING, not even our children or other family members. MF is going to help us be better parents, better spouses, better people because we will feel better physically and emotionally when we are thinner and healthier.

Everytime we go off plan we are not only "cheating" ourselves of success sooner than later, but we are basically wasting money and time. Since it takes 2-3 days to get into ketosis, everytime we kick ourselves out of ketosis, we "waste" 2-3 days worth of MF food just to get back on. I don't know about anyone else, but I didn't spend $260 for 5 weeks worth of food to waste several days worth of it to get back into ketosis.

I am not saying that I am better than anyone else or that I have more will power than the next person. I just know that I have made a decision to do this and in order to DO THIS, I know I have to do it right. WE ALL must choose to put MF FIRST in our lives or don't bother doing it at all.

If I have offended you, I am sorry. Perhaps I am just getting too personally involved with folks here and have started caring too much about everyone. I hate to see people wasting time, money and energy only to sabatoge themselves.

OK - END OF RANT - KICK ME OFF IF YOU WANT TO - I JUST NEEDED TO GET THAT OUT!

I can understand your frustration. In the beginning and in the end of my MF journey I was non-compliant many times. That is just my experience. Both periods I was dealing with physical and mental health issues that made me feel out of control. I know there are people with the same difficulties who could have remained compliant. Ok, so I wasted some money. Okay, so I'm mentally and emotionally healthier now. People generally change because of their own pain and their own God, not someone else's opinion no matter how well meaning.

I hear what you are saying Rodeo, and the only thing that I can say is that the whole reason people come here is for the support and help that they need to keep at it.

I am sure that you have heard that 85% of the people who try to do this or any other program without support are unsuccessful. That's just the numbers... its the reality of the way that people are. People need to be supported and supportive of others.

So, we keep plugging away, and we try to deal with our own "demons" as it were, and we make the course corrections along our route to our goal.

RM, you have every right to write about your feelings in your journal (or anywhere else for that matter). You should not be sorry for hurting feelings. If the shoe fits, wear it. It may be just what some needed to get the ball rolling. Luckily, i have been committed THIS time but i also have been on the other side with the cheating, etc. Everyone is different, everyone has to decide for themselves. The only people we can control is OURSELVES. It is not your issue if someone is wasting THEIR money or THEIR time, because they are not wasting YOUR money or YOUR time. It is our position here to be supportive of each other. If you see someone not complying and complaining about it, you are not obligated or "pat them on their back" by posting. Better yet, if you find those that are being compliant, follow their posts instead. We all have choices to make. Make the choices that are positive for you! Worst case scenario, you can focus solely on your journal and allow others reply to what you post here. BUT fortunately, i know you enjoy reading (and commenting on) about whats going on with others in their journey. So just be happy for everyone that has attempted to take the step of introducing MF to their lives. I'm sure that you have tried MANY different diets throughout your life and thank God that you have found the one that works for you. Just think about it for a moment...on other diets that you have tried, you have let outside forces influence how you reacted to staying on that program, haven't you? What was it about this program that made you decide to stick to it? Whatever that was, just because you decided that this was now going to be your "way of life" does not mean that everyone else has gotten to that point yet. We all have our individual set of motivaters. Live for yours, not anyone elses. I now step down from my soapbox and digress...i checked out your photobucket site, WONDERFUL pics and videos you have there momma! AND, i just might have to take you up on the invite!! We can shovel some poopy together, race to see who can carry the most firewood and go inside and enjoy a mug of MF hot chocolate by the fire (burning the wood that WE just collected, of course).

Issue aside,
I found it highly entertaining that one post was all about the smells of nature......peaceful......la la la ~ and the very next post was a total rant :nana: !!!!
:roflmao: I know it was not your intention, Rodeo, but thanks for the laugh. See! You're supportive even when you don't mean to be!

P.S. I totally understand the frustration, but I agree with what everyone else said. Holy moly, that ovary chick sounds just like me sometimes!!
