I don't measure stuff when I do this particular pie. I will use that as my excuse that I had to taste the filling before I put it in - you know, just to make sure it was OK  .

Anyway, I used a spatula to clean the bowl out really well then stuck it right in the soapy water. I even passed up the mixer pieces, but I just had to try a spoonfull of the filling.

Thanks to your suggestions and encouragement, I am not feeling the all or nothing sydrome though. I am proud of that. OK, so I had a couple TBSP of peanut butter pie filling - not good, but not the end of the world. I will have a shake in a few and get right back on track.

I think you'd better stay away from that scale. It sounds possessed. I think I'd find a friendlier one. :D

That's a definite improvement, Brenda. A couple of tastes in a situation like that probably won't even be a blip on the scale by weigh-in day. Good job!!!

Thank you DogMa, I feel pretty proud of myself that I didn't just dig in to the whole pie. I love that recipe (as does everyone in the church - which is why I make it). When they were done I even took them directly to someone else's house, just for safe measure. Whew - that was a close one.

Went to the gym this morning. Walked the treadmill but skipped the bike. Then I also worked on those "bat wings" some folks call triceps and did some ab work. The ankle is acting up a little, but nothing I can't handle. Actually, after what it has been through I don't think there is anything that particular part on my body can't handle.

Tex - The scale at the gym and I are still going around in circles. Same place today as I was yesterday 250 + 0 but not 200 - 50. I am certain that I will reach my goal of being 200 + something by the 4th. It may have won some battles, but I WILL win this war!!!

In a pretty good mood today. Got 2 quilts cut out and will start sewing them this evening. Some friends of mine and I are putting on a horse show in memory of Alicia (my best friend that passed away in Feb from breast cancer). During the show we are also going to shave a quilt raffle. I will be working on 2 throw size quilts, one in pinks with breast cancer ribbons and one in blue and white. I will have to post photos in case anyone here wants to buy a chance at them.

Ok - off for a shake and then the sewing machine.

How goes the sewing?

Are you all really thinking of moving? Will you move somewhere where you can still have horses, or will you do something else entirely?

I have 2 quilts at about the half-way point. Quite an accomplishment for me these days. Had to take a break from sewing today to paint fence. I went through 2 gallons of paint and still have 2/3 of the fence left to paint. I guess I know what I will be doing tomorrow!

We are considering moving. Actually, we should have been in Montana by now, but those plans came to a screeching halt last fall. I cannot imagine Deanna without at least one or two horses so there will have to be room for a couple where ever we land. I suspect my mom and dad are planning on housing horses for her until she gets settled into a job and can take care of them on her own. Perhaps once I am recovered I can get a real job and be able to have a place for them myself.???? That would be cool - for her and I both to be out from under their thumb...

As for the weight loss journey all is about the same these days. When to PT this morning, but the therapist was in a horrible mood and we didn't get much accomplished. Tomorrow should be my day to just go to the gym instead of PT, but I think I might head over to the local arbouretum for a walk instead. Tucker - my silkey terrier loves to go out there and we haven't been in a long time. It is supposed to be a nice day - something we haven't had in forever it seems (only 2 days in June with no rain - I feel like I've moved back to Oregon already!). Still fighting the scale over the same issue. I just can't seem to bust through that 250 mark. Maybe taking a day off from the gym and not weighing in will be good for me.

Hang in there. I had hubby hide my scale but it's to emotionally draining to weigh every day. I figure if I stick to it the weight will fall off with or without the scale yelling at me! lol
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Start Weight 326.7 ~ My short term goal will put me at 250!

Started June 19th 2008. First Mini Goal 76.7 pounds.

I am not usually one to be a scale hound. On the contrary, I am typically the one telling people to weigh once a week. I guess setting that micro-mini goal set me on edge. I figured it would be such an easy goal to reach. Now I am a little frustrated, thinking "Gee, if I can't hit a 4 pound goal, how am I gonna reach another 75 more more pounds." I know, I know, I have already shed 70 some pounds (well actually 100, but then added some back on). If anyone KNOWS I can do it I do. My personality just works on an all or nothing frame of mind. I can't help but to jump into that mode. That is where this board and my email buddies come in. They help keep me grounded and focused on reality which isn't black and white or all or nothing.

Thanks for leveling me Sharon!

I love it that you always keep the faith in yourself and your ability to reach your goal! You are my inspiration!

I've been thinking about switching up the treadmill with a dog walk, too! I think it'd be healthy for Dobbs and it'd be fun to mix up the cardio. Good idea to take Tucker out. I bet painting the fence really worked out your arms and shoulders, too!

Man, I dunno how you handle that much rain. I'm a sunshine girl - I'd be depressed all the time with that much rain!

Thank you, Tex, for letting me know that my journey is helpful to you. It helps to know that someone is watching me. That way, I feel like I am letting them down if I slip - ya know? Now, I am even more motivated to do this. We will get there together :stroll:

My shoulders did get a work out doing the fence. Today I had to rake the gravel that was washed out of the drive way and into the grass when the creeks flooded (our front yard was a small lake a few days ago). I spent 3 hours doing that and didn't get it done. I am already feeling that work out. :weightlift:

The only problem I have with taking Tucker for a walk at the arboretum is that there are lots of trees there (Duh!) and he is a male. I never get a chance to get my heart rate up cause we have to inspect every tree we pass, then make sure that we let everyone else know that we inspected it ;) . He likes to get out though and he loves to be with me so even if it is just a stroll, it is better than sitting on the couch right?!

The rain was getting on my nerves. I started to feel like I was living back in Oregon again. Funny thing about it though is that it wasn't a dark dismal rain. I have always loved thunder storms which is what we had in spurts. Thunder storm...sun...TS...sun...another TS...more sun... Even that was getting a bit tiresome though.

OK, off to PT then a blind date ( :help:

Blind date! WooHoo! Let us know how it goes!

Dobbs doesn't stop to pee on everything, but she thinks everyone we pass is there just to say hi to her. She's a people dog. And I live on a street that's one family-oriented cul-de-sac after another, so we have the same problem. I found a great walking track at a local park that's just a 5 min. drive from the house, tho! Yay! :)

Well, the date went OK, I guess. He was nice and all, but he REALLY likes to eat and I think that would put me on a very slippery slope.

There has been a snag in my gym routine so I didn't make it today and I feel it. Just kinda "off" all day. I was gonna head out to the arboretum for a walk, but it is raining again. I think I will go to the gym this evening. It is closed for the 4th tomorrow, and I don't want to miss 2 days in a row. Saturday is a schedualed PT appointment so I don't have to worry about missing the whole weekend.

I'm glad you enjoyed your date! It's fun to go out and get to know someone new, even it you don't think it'd be a long term thing. Good for you for putting yourself out there! :D You're brave!

How's the fence coming? I love how dedicated you are to making the gym a regular part of your routine. I didn't want to go yesterday, but I thought, "I'll just do the elliptical machine, not the whole routine." By the time I finished the elliptical machine, I found I wanted to do more of the routine, so I did the arm exercises. Imagine, actually wanting to do exercises. How long are your rehab sessions?

What're ya'll doin' for the 4th? There's a natural spring just 30 min from our place, and think we're gonna head there with friends. The family's all scattered this holiday. We'll take a tent and some games and just float and nap all day, then they'll have a fireworks show after dark. We'll be grilling, so I'm taking some chicken and mixed veggies to throw on the grill. I'll sure miss the pasta salad, hot dogs and margaritas this year. Especially the margaritas! But they'll still be there next year!

Ahhh margaritas! I could have had one of those last night too, but I was driving so I had a good excuse.

I have to be in PT for at least an hour to an hour and a half in order to be compliant with worker's comensation. This is more than is recommended while on the program so I have talked to Dr Anderson about his recommendations under the circumstances and he gave me some good advice on altering the plan just a smidge to stay in fat burning. I do actual PT 3 times a week. The other 3 days that the gym is open I go in and a least do 30 minutes on the treadmill, but I am like you now. Once I get there, I get those "happy juices" flowing and I decide to do more. I have picked a particular area of my body that I want to work on - my triceps - unaffectionately known as my "bat wings". My upper arms disgust me and I am going to do whatever it takes to get them in shape. I still work on my abs and such, but when it comes to the weight machines I have decided to really emphasize those upper arms.

BTW - since it rained all day today the fence remains 1/3 done. The horses don't seem to mind though. I did see that one of them got a little too close when he got curious about the paint smell. I though he had a boo boo on his nose - turns out it was fence paint. The little booger.

No big plans for the 4th. In fact - if it isn't raining, I will probably be painting fence. May be going to a horse show to watch my daughter compete, but I don't know if she is going yet or not.

100% compliant today! Yay me! Tried the pizza crust recipe on the lean cuisine board. YUMMY!!

I'm working on bat wings, too! I never realized how bad they were until I was doing my hair in my bra one morning. I was so disgusted! Now they're my number 1 target, followed very closely by belly and booty! :D

I'll definitely check out the pizza recipe! And YAY for a full day of 100% On Plan! You're starting your own trend! :yay: And way to make staying OP yummy!
