Thanks to everyone for your input. Tawanda, yes, it has been very difficult to get back on since my surgery and I haven't been 100% compliant since. My goal right now is to take a complete break - not even one MF meal or one meal that resembles a lean and green until my next Be Slim order comes in. That being said, I still am watching portions and eating healthy stuff, just not MF approved stuff. When my order gets here I will go 100% full bore on plan - no ifs, ands or buts!

Also thank you to all who commented on my daughter's picture. Today is her 17th birthday. She is a beauty, I think anyway. I am very proud of who she is and the decisions she is making these days.

Blessings!

Hey Bren,
WOW ! Congrats on the 100# club ! That is one whopping accomplishment and one that I hope to reach one day ! Your daughter is as beautiful as you are sweet ! What an adorable picture !! You have so much to be thankful for...

About your decision to stop MF for awhile...Think about the reason WHY you want to stop...Dig deep into your heart and search for the real reason and do it...We will certainly not judge you...I am the LAST person to do that !

Have a great night Bren !

Steph told me that a few folks have asked her about me so I thought I would drop in for a minute. I am doing OK. Hangin in as best as I can at this point. Been off plan for a while, but I am going to start up again in the morning. My Physical Therapy just intesified by about 100% so I am a little concerned about more activity and less calories. According to the machines at PT I am burning about 300 per session (3 sessions a week). Since I have been either off plan completely or partially for a few months now, I should be cutting the exercise in half, but I will be forced to double it. I guess that means I should add a shake - well that is what my sister suggested anyway.

So - thanks for checking in with Steph. I am flattered that y'all are concerned and wondering how I am doing. I hope to be back on a regular basis now. We'll see how things go.

You sister is one of the best Health Coaches in Take Shake Shape for Life, Bren -- and she has your best interest at heart.

You could have a bar right before you go to "power" you through PT, then follow with a shake even though it's a lot closer together than the program says. And I agree with Jane -- add a shake so you're doing a 6&1.

Another thing has come to mind, though. Given that you've had surgery and you're in recovery, your body's going to need extra calories. Forgive me ignorance in that I don't know when you had surgery nor the extent, but the 5&1 is not recommended for folks who've had surgery within the last 3 months without doctor's consent. Have you considered staying on the maintenance plan instead of going back on the 5&1 until you're fully recovered? Just a thought.

Thanks Diane! I love Jane with all my heart and I know that she loves me too! She is a super health coach and deserves the life she enjoys because of TSFL!!!

WOW! 3 months? I didn't realize that it was suggested to take 3 months after surgery. To catch you up - I had major reconstruction of my right ankle on December 21st. Keep in mind that this was the 2nd surgery on that same ankle in 9 months and the 3rd in 2 years.

So, now I am well past the 3 month time frame, but I didn't really go competely into maintenance until the middle of April either. I would do 3 or 4 days on then some off then back on and off and on and off and on..... you get the point. Anyway, as far as my foot doctor is concerned I will not be "recovered" from the surgery for a full year.

This new round of PT is intense! This round is called "work conditioning" and includes 10 minutes on the stationary bike, 10 minutes on the eliptical machine, 20 minutes (at 3mph) on the treadmill, then 3 different strengthening machines. All together I am in the gym for over an hour. I will have to say that I was quite shaken when I was finished on Friday. I talked to Jane about it and I know she is concerned with the intensity and the length, but I am under doctor's orders and worker's compensation is watching. I am actually considering an additional bar for the days that I go to PT, one about an hour before and one about an hour after.

Or maybe I should wait to start the 5/1 or 6/1 until I my body adjusts to the work outs? I can't hold off on the work outs, so doing the program for a while before I start at the gym is not an option. I just am not sure what to do. Perhaps I will participate in the next doctor's call and ask Dr A - or whomever is on.

Thanks for your input Diane - it is sweet to know you care! Any further advise would be appreciated.

Bren, definitely get on the Doctor's call tomorrow night and ask. I don't think you'll need an additional bar after the workout. Your body won't need the carbs then. But a shake would probably do you good at that point.

Given all the variables, though, it sounds like talking with Dr. Andersen or Dr. Joe would help answer some questions and get you going in the right direction. The call is tomorrow night (Wednesday) at 5:30 Pacific. (646) 519-5860 PIN 0971#

Well, for those of you who were not on the doctor's call and haven't listened to the recording I did get some answers. Dr A advised me to do a 4 and 2 plan with about 1500 calories during this stage of my physical therapy. I am glad that he understood that the exercise side of my life is not negotiable right now - I have to do what the Dr and Phys therapist tell me to do. At least I have an option that will put me on the plan and in a fat burning mode without running my body into the ground. I plan to start on Monday.

Day 5 solidly back on track. I have gained much of what I had lost recently so I am out of the 100 pound club.

Down 2 pounds since I started on the first.

Still fighting the gloomies and struggling with emotional crap.

Prayers appreciated.

Sorry to hear you're struggling, but I'm glad you're back on track. I suspect the emotional end will improve as the nutrition and physical side does. I hope so, at least.

Hang in there!
