RM,

Me and my daughter have been pretty close although during high school she thought I was pretty strict...but secretly she used to brag to her friends at school about how much she liked hanging out with me. (We are 20 years apart)

I can safely say that we rarely go to the mall together...but maybe that will change when I get fit. I used to go a lot when I was thin, but the first time I saw my back side in one of those mall mirrors after I'd put on weight, I dreaded the mall! Breezy would probably like it if we hung out at the mall now that she is grown (20 years old) so she can spend my money instead of her own! LOL!

I'm glad you are enjoying yourself and venturing out - I can't wait to do the same! I keep saying that if I can shed the fat rolls on my back that one of my first purchases will be on of those backless dresses! :-P It will reallly prove to me that I have accomplished something!

Take care and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

!

A few years ago I had the same problem. They said I had "adnexal masses" on both of my ovaries. Talk about scary doctor speak. It just meant I had cysts. They kept monitoring them and eventually they went away. On the ultrasound you could even see where one had been. It looked like a starburst. So I hope you are as lucky as I was. I will keep you in my prayers! Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks for the positive thoughts and kind words Biki. The blood test kinda freeked me out a little, but he had a really good attitude and outlook so that helped me relax a little bit. Just knowing that he is willing to listen to me and offered the "help" if I started having pain associated with it was comforting.

So today I have done my barn chores with the help of my daughter since she is out of school. I also carried in a couple loads of wood. I am hoping that the rain either stops or turns to snow so I can go for a walk after "dinner" which will be served at 1pm.

Happy :turkey: DAY to everyone! May we all find at least 10 things we can be greatful for!

:thanksgiving:

I realized that I hadn't measured for a while so I decided to do that today.

Measurements for November 23 -

Neck - 14"
Bicept - 16"
Forarm - 11"
"The Girls" - 45"
Right under them - 39"
Waist - 41"
Hips- 53"
Thigh - 29.5"
Calf - 19"

Original Measurements October 6, 2007:

Neck - 14.5
Bicept - 18
Forarm - 11
"The Girls" - 50
Right under them - 45
Waist - 43
Humungo hips - 55
Thigh - 33
Calf - 19

I forgot to weigh in on Sunday, but I did that today too and I am now 246.5 on my home scale, but 254 on the scale at physical therapy. Going by the one at PT I am down 2 pounds since Tuesday when I last weighed there (that means 2 pounds lost over the holiday). That one has always been a little higher than the one at home. Of course, I would use the one that shows less for my "official" one. I still can't wait until I don't have to push that bottom slider over to the 250 mark at PT. I would really like to be solidly under 250 by my surgery date of 12/21 which I don't think will be a problem. 240 would be SUPER by then.

I had a Pampered Chef Cooking Show at my house today. We made Lil' Citrus Muffins which are not on plan and I was able to abstain. Actually, everything I had out for my guests was off plan, but I did well. I made sure to have my favorite bar (mint choc) ready so that I was eating it when everyone else was munching on goodies. I am actually suprised at how easy it was. Since everyone that came knows about our family being on MF, I guess I felt like I was trying to set an example (there were a few that could really use the program). Anyway, I feel really good about my progress at this point.

Thanksgiving Day my daughter and I walked about 2 miles while everyone else ate pie. Yesterday, I stacked firewood. Well, I didn't just stack it I lugged it from the pile behind the shed about 120 steps to the porch, one arm-load at a time. It took me about 2 hours to fill up the area on the porch that I wanted to fill. When I was done with that I ran the sweeper in the house and changed the sheets on my mom's bed (since she can't do it right now due to the surgery). Needless to say I was a bit sore when I woke up this morning, but I felt really good otherwise. Today, I moved a few more armloads of firewood and super-cleaned the barn.
No worries - I am feeling like I am getting my work out in these last few days.

I have a doctor's appointment on Monday to go over all the necessary information regarding my ankle surgery. Maybe some of the girls in the office will notice my weight loss. Not like I need an NSV right now, but they are always nice.

This week, I really need to get some sewing done. I got an order for 7 "BLING" stockings from a lady at church AND I am supposed to display my purses at the "Ladies Tea" at the church on Saturday. Busy - Busy!!

Congrats on those inches lost and your compliance around all those treats. :) You just amaze me with all the hard physical work you do and your actual business too! I almost had an attack trying to open a jar of salsa.

Hey RM,

I have tons of cysts on my ovaries, all benign. I am sure you will be fine too. But, keep in mind those CA tests can be false positive with recent weight loss. Just an FYI from the lab rat. You look great. I have missed talking to you. I am finally back on track, and I am really happy about that!!!!

Well, the CA125 blood test for cancer came back negative (which we expected it to) so that is good. For right now the ovarian cyst will stay where it is unless it starts to bother me. I saw my foot doctor in Monday and all is a go for my surgery on Dec 21. Sure will be nice to have that over and done with.

Yesterday, I moved another stack of firewood to the porch. That was 2 1/2 hours of lifting, walking and stacking. My ankle was pretty sore afterward, but I felt good after a long soak in the tub. I haven't been on a scale for a little while because I know that my exercise will affect the numbers. There is no way I can not be adding muscle these days. I know how my clothes are fitting (and not fitting because they are too big) so I am OK with those results and will get back to the scale in a week or two.

Saturday I will attend the last of the award banquets for the season. There will be several people there that haven't seen me since MF so I am looking forward to it. I tried on the red dress again and it does fit a little better. I am going to wait until Sat to try it on again. If it fits well enough I will wear it to the banquet, if not - I have a couple of new outfits to choose from. I may even have one finished that I am making for myself.

All in all, I am generally doing well. Still trying to get my mom over her 4 surgeries that she has had to have in the last 6 weeks. She seems to be healing well this time, but she did the other times also. I am also still trying to find my muse to motivate me to sew. I have a couple of orders to fill and would like to finish some purses to display at the Ladies Tea at my church Saturday morning. I suppose I won't get any sewing done as long as I am here so I better sign off for now.

Thank you everyone. I was, admittidly. a little nervous, but the doctor said it was all just a precaution so that calmed my nerves a little. Now that that whole ordeal (being sick, then the ovary scare etc) is over, I can get back to concentrating on my weight loss efforts. I really never gave up, MF is basically a habit now, I just wasn't completely "in" to it emotionally and mentally.

The next huge obsitcal to overcome is my ankle surgery. I kinda hate the fact that I have to have it on Dec 21, so close to Christmas, but what do ya do? I am looking forward to being completely healthy. This ankle issue has been going on for 2 years now. One surgery back in March went well, but the Achilles tore again and I have been fighting to get the approvals to have it repaired. Now, it has been so long that he might have to replace it instead of being able to repair it. In addtion to that he has to realign that heal too - that involves cutting the bone, moving and pinning it in the correct location. All because the first doctor 2 years ago refused to help because of my weight. Oh well, I don't care now as long as I can walk without pain again.

I know the 65 pounds I have lost since Sept 21 will sure make recovering from this surgery easier than the last one. My new mini-goal is to drop another 20 by surgery day. Since I am averaging a pound a day, it is a realistic goal, but any amount lost will make recovering from such a major surgery eaiser.

hi bren... just wanted to say i am glad that everything came out negative with your results. As for your surgery Dec. 21st, sometimes things happen to make us slow down a bit. Gives us time to refocus. So take advantage of it! Prop that foot up and sew away.

Gosh Brenda, that surgery sounds horrific. The only good part is that everyone will realize how much you do around there once you are incapacitated.

I think it sounds worse than it is - can't be any worse than the 6 procedures he did all at one time to the same ankle in March.

As for everyone realizing what I do... sure they will realize it, but will they ever say anything about it? That is OK - I am happy to get the exercise now. When I do those chores, I know that I am accomplishing the task and that always makes it worth while, NOW I am also realizing that I am getting a work out too. :D
