OK, REAM ME!!!

Postby veritas » March 27th, 2006, 12:58 pm

ALRIGHT, I AM ASHAMED TO POST THIS BUT I THINK IT WILL HELP ME FEEL BETTER. :secret: I MADE MY FIRST MESS UP YESTERDAY AND AM FEELING REEEEAAALLLY DOWN ABOUT IT.

We had an appointment yesterday at 5:00 and we left in such a hurry that I forgot my meal packets. I thought I could wait till I got home but by 9:00 I was feeling monstrously hungry! My family was hungry also and so they pulled into Whataburger so I caved in and ordered a chicken salad. (Even though I had already had my L&G at lunch) I tried to tell myself that it was okay since I missed 2 of my packets, but I am definitely reaping the consequenses of my decision today. I feel sooo hungry and am having those evil cravings again.

I also was away from this forum this weekend and realized how dangerous that is. I really need to hear all the encouragement and reprimanding. :3head:

I also am extremely perturbed because I haven't lost any weight this week!! :x I think I didn't consume as much water this week so I am really focusing on that. I am feeling a little down though, hopefully I will get back in the swing of things by tomorrow.

Hi there Veritas! I'm sorry you had a rough day yesterday and now with cravings today. Don't be too hard on yourself. These things happen. You made a wise dinner choice under the circumstances and next time I know you won't forget to take those suppliements with you :) I keep a box of bars in the car for just such an occasion and they have saved me MANY times.

Keep up the good work! Those cravings will subside in no time!

Sorry - I couldn't resist.

Seriously, everyone said it well. Forgive yourself and move on. We've all done it and/or will do it again. At least you learned from this to always have spare packets or bars in your car or purse.

Go get 'em!!! :leopard:

When I started reading your post, I expected to see that you'd eaten two packages of Oreos, or a super huge order of fries (plus milkshake), or something to that effect. You did the best you could under the circumstances, and you certainly could have made worse choices than a chicken salad. Part of this program is learning to make choices that will keep us healthy and skinny for a lifetime. Chicken salad vs. burger and fries? You made the right choice! I think it was better that you ate something when you did; we want to keep our blood sugar levels stable.

And now you have learned the lesson about stocking your purse and car with supplements, which is a very valuable lesson. You learned something from the experience, you got right back on plan, you're doing okay. No reaming necessary. :pet:

Just a tip to all you that like to have emergency packets in the car...

I bought a mug that plugs into my car lighter. It not only keeps things hot, it actually heats them up. You can start with room temp water, and in about 10 minutes, you have HOT water. I bought mine at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I don't think all plug a mugs are created equal. Some only keep things hot when they start hot. Make sure there are several settings if you want to "create" hot water.

I agree with Dayna, When I saw the title to your post I thought you'd probably broken the carb bank but alas it's only a chicken salad. Wasn't the best choice you could've made but certainly not the worst. Just like planning for emergencies in life, you have to plan for emergencies like this. Just like a fire drill, prepare in advance for possible scenarios. (What will I do if I have no MF and I have to eat? What will I do if I go out to dinner with friends and need to order real food?) Memorize the veggie list and be aware of what a true portion of protein is. The best advice that I ever received from my MD is this ... If you're out and about and absolutely have to eat, focus on protein and fat. Don't go overboard but don't indulge in the carbs. If you happen to eat a larger portion than you should, at least you won't be out of ketosis so it's much easier to get back on track than if you had too many carbs.

Those RTD's and bars are a godsend, aren't they?

Oh believe me Dayna, it was definitely a temptation to have a burger and fries. (With a milkshake). But thankfully my husband was there to give me the LOOK.

It is amazing how our mind works. You start to think, "Well if I am going to do something I shouldn't, I may as well go all out!" I am praying that this mindset will break in me, it always gets me in trouble.

Just to let everyone know, I am doing better this evening and have stayed on schedule. I am still a little hungry but I know this will pass. Thanks for all the replies and encouragement.

What Dayna said! I have done the exact same thing and now carry a bar or two in my purse.

I think it's great that you made the choice you did under the circumstances. I'm giving you a big pat on the back for not giving in to the burger and fries! :pet: Ya did good!

Okay

Postby dede4wd » March 28th, 2006, 11:02 am

Consider yourself reamed...again!

Okay, enough of that...it's over it's finished. You learned several things...that when in a pinch, you can STILL order the best choice possible in a bad situation...and that you should stash a few bars or RTD's EVERYWHERE so that if "something" comes up, you'll be prepared!

As everyone's said, today's a new day. You might feel a little lethargic, but I'm so proud of you for getting right back on the horse and being accountable to us.
