Ready or not, here I go ...

All that hard work and now what? Let's talk about how to keep those pounds off...

Postby Lizabette » July 13th, 2007, 8:32 pm

I checked out the website for the book, and looks like something I would really enjoy.
Basically I read about everything I get my hands on about maintaining and eating healthfully.
Most of it has some very helpful things.
BTW, GRAYSON, I don't think I've read any of your posts, but you have lost a tremendous amount of weight. Congratulations!
Thanks for the info, ROBIN. I hope to find the book.

It's not out till the end of the month, Lizabette. I think the release date is the 24th. So far, I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

But Grayson, it does seem to be focused more on women. I think there is plenty in there that applies to everyone, but almost all the examples she gives are women.

I thought I'd leave a quick post here, for those who don't read the journals. Yesterday marked my one-year maintenance anniversary, so I figure it's appropriate to note that here.

So here it is, a year later. I fluctuate, of course, but I'm about 2 pounds above where I was when I finished. I've gained quite a bit of muscle, though, so I think that more than accounts for it. I work out daily - usually twice a day and sometimes (on weightlifting days), three times a day. I run (or jog), something I never in a million years thought I would do. I didn't even run as a child.

I still fit in the same size 6, although I'd still like to lose some body fat and maybe drop one more size. Hasn't happened in a year, though, so I'm not sure it ever will. Doesn't mean I won't keep trying, though.

Anyway, that's about it. There IS life after Medifast. I know that some maintainers (at least the ones on this forum) still eat Medifast products much of the time. I choose not to, for a variety of reasons. In fact, I haven't had a Medifast product in months and recently gave away my stash (except the soy crisps, because I like them and I might as well use them up). Instead I try to eat whole, natural foods as much as possible (eggs and egg whites, chicken and turkey breast, fish, limited fruit, etc.). I eat sugar or fatty foods only VERY occasionally; even though I used to adore fast food, I've had it once in the past year, and only because it was the only thing available. My daily indulgence is two no-sugar-added Fudgsicles, but lately I'm starting to skip some of those, even.

Image Again, ROBIN!!!
I'm tagging along not far behind you on the one year maintenance in two weeks.
I mostly do natural foods also, with a MF shake or cocoa when I need a little extra snack.
I still think we need a special medallion for one year maintainers...maybe I can come up with one...
We should be very proud of ourselves, and of course we are!

Lizabette, we need to have a virtual party in a couple weeks when you get here, too. Salads and soy crisps for everyone!

Well, I don't really eat soy crisps, but I eat a TON of salads...can I join in on the party when I get to a year too??! Pretty please, with a cherry on top? Um, a real cherry, not a fake sugary marachino cherry...

This is so inspiring ladies! Congratulations! It is so inspiring because you people have not only taken the extra weight off to an appropriate BMI/weight but you have actually learned to keep it off and have. I definately think you need a special recognition for maintaining and every year of this is another huge success. Thank you so much for sharing this and and showing us readers that it can actually be done.

Sounds good. Be nice if we could design one of the tickers to automatically update it.
