Quick help needed! Salad dressing question

Postby Finally_Losing » June 29th, 2006, 8:45 am

Going out to lunch for the first time today since being on MF. I'm going to have my lean and green. I've decided what to have early so I don't have to suffer through the menu :) Grilled chicken breast and a salad with no cheese or croutons (or carrots if applicable). BUT what salad dressing??? This rest. doesn't usually have a fat free or low fat option! I didn't bring mine with me today because I didn't know I was going out....Any suggestions????

Thanks,
Amy

I would probably ask the server not to put the dressing on the salad, but on the side instead. Don't pour the dressing on the salad, just dip your fork in the dressing then take a bite of salad.

Yep--dressing on the side. And, they probably have a vinegarette (sp) if you like that. If not, I would stay away from anything too creamy. Go for French or Italian.

Thank you ladies. I had vinegar and oil on the side and it worked out perfectly....Although I'm sure I ate too much salad it was only lettuce, tomatoes, and an onion slice. Chicken was grilled and fabulous (6oz portion)....so not to shabby for my first outing. :)

It sounds like you did well! I usually request lemon wedges, and I use salt/pepper/lemon on my salads. It's very refreshing. My gramma used to make dressing with oil, lemon, salt, and pepper when I was a kid so I grew to like the taste.

I actually have started adding salt and pepper to my salad for a little extra taste. I use Newman's Own Lite Balsamic Vinegarette when I'm at home. It's yummy, low cal and low carb... :)
