Quick funny for you...from the microwave idiot

Postby lifelovinaries » April 11th, 2006, 9:17 pm

Well today was day 3 for me. I kept repeating to myself that it was going to go smoother than my day 2. I decided to take the advice of many and try the oatmeal as my first meal. Since I had to cook it at work, I was left to use the industrial microwave (can we say higher wattage boys and girls?). I added my 6 oz. of h20 and set it for 2 mins. Well I started running my mouth to a coworker and turned around to look at about 1min, 10 secs and, well, just remember I said industrial microwave...Needless to say, I had a HUGE mess to clean and I was left with a thick glop about 1 inch deep in my cup. :hammerhead: I was about to panic...OH NO, MY BREAKFAST, WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?!? Well, since you can't cry over spilled milk (or in this case spilled oatmeal), I added some more HOT h20 to my glop and stirred. Unfortunately, it was a little toooo much h20 but I sat down at 7:30 am and proceeded to eat my maple and brown sugar soup. Don't know whether it was the positive attitude or the 5 bottles of water but I wasn't hungry. Matter of fact at 11:30 I shouted (to myself, of course) "oh shoot, it's past time for another meal". If today is any indication of what tomorrow brings (minus the oatmeal incident), it really DOES get easier. I am also now stocked with pickles and sf jello. Thanks to all for the suggestions.

That's great (about not being hungry, not about the oatmeal incident)! I think we've all had some sort of similar mishap with a packet (usually it's thinking you're making one thing and finding out you've made something else, like an oatmeal shake or pudding soup or chicken noodle pudding).

You're pretty much through the hardest part, so YAY for you!!!

Boy have we, I mixed up a yummy Thin Mint shake went to take my blender off of the base and the base had broke, I was scooping shake from the countertop into a glass cuz I didn't want to waste it. Why do they make moving parts of a blender out of plastic? Crazy

I've had the blender accident before too! Forgot to add the spout (we have one of those smoothie blenders) back on and when I added water and turned it on the shake came spouting out! So there I was, taking a rubber spatula and scraping the shake from the countertop into a cup! I wasn't going to 'waste' anything! :) My kids got a big laugh out of that one!

It does get so much easier. I felt so deprived the first few days. Now, I feel it is a habit. By the time I'm hungry, it is time to eat again. It's really not so bad.

I DO have to fight cravings when I see Pizza Hut commercials, tho. MAN-O-MAN! Sometimes my hand actually hits the receiver to order..then I black out or something 'cause I make it through somehow. :scratchhead:

Well next time just add 8 ounces of water and microwave only for a minute, that should do it hehe. :)

At least you made it through it! You're doing great LOL.

I haven't really been tempted by much food, but the new Quizno's commercial for their Steakhouse sub always makes me drool.

My friend was obsessed by that sandwich after seeing the commercials. She finally broke down and had one, and said it wasn't nearly as good as she hoped.
