Question for the ladies

Postby ScottsMom » February 12th, 2006, 9:01 am

Hey, girls.
Is it just me, or does MF totally screw with your hormones? My period is like 10 days early this month. That is really unusual for me! I lost about 10 pounds in 2 weeks, so I figure rapid weight loss... estrogen release... etc probably did it. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Hi Lora,
You are right!! Fat stores estrogen so when you burn up the fat -- you release estrogen into your system. Fat also stores lots of stuff we really don't want. Thats one reason the program says drink drink drink your water. We want to flush your system. :D Ten pounds gone for good -- that's great!!!

What about being late? I started MF right before I was to get it and haven't got it yet.

Well,

Mine totally took me by surprise this month! You try finding a "feminine product" at an NHRA drag race...not pretty.

What I've found is that I bleed more heavily, but I don't have the cramps and pain that I did pre-MF.

That's my two cents.

I didn't have this on Medifast, but I did the last time I went on Atkins. Lost 10 pounds or so, and had two periods in a row, after not having one for several YEARS before that (blood tests had indicated I was in early menopause).

Thankfully, that hasn't happened to me this time.

From what I gather, things should even out again for you. But women on my Atkins group were always warned to be extra-careful about birth control if they weren't interested in getting pregnant.

Well I don't know if it was the MF or not, but I'm normally very regular and I was 3 days late this time. So if anyone else starts MF and the same thing happens to them and they get a little worried, it looks like it can happen. :)

I have probs with Aunt Flo anyhow..lol

Postby Ginabobina1969 » March 24th, 2006, 9:51 am

"Aunt flo" as I call her or her little dog "spot" have been messed up for me for years...very irregular. I have PCOS(polycystic ovarian syndrome) so that adds to the irregularity.

The last visit I had from her before I started Medifast on 2/16 was before Christmas. Usually, when I go that long without, the ONLY thing to kick things in gear is progesterone supplements. This time she came on her own about 4 weeks into mf! YAY!!! positive signs that mf is helping me to right the imbalances in my body.
Pretty normal, less cramping then normal.

:)
Hugs,
Gina

Yes, weight loss can certainly affect the arrival of Aunt Flo. Sometimes she :drive: arrives sooner than she's expected and for women on the program for a long time, particularly for those on the complete meal replacement program, she has been known to stay away for a while.

Sometimes Auntie arrives with a  vengeance the first time or two and thereafter, the :redhead: cravings and :muahaha: crankiness is gone and everyone in the house is happy and thinny! :whoohoo:

Hubbie will be happy to know the crankiness goes away! I wanted to eat EVERYTHING the begining of this week, but I remained on plan. It was tough!

Dear ToyDiva ~

Hoo ray! :exercise: You survived and so did he! :bounce:

I discovered the days that I was the hungriest were always rewarded on the scale in the next day or two. It seemed as if my body worked extra hard, I felt sort of empty and it was tough to keep away from the cupboards. There was a super surprise on the scale soon after and it was worth the wait/weight!

Some women really have a rough go of it the first couple of time Aunt Flo arrives but report she calms down and things are better than ever!

Glad to know you hung in there with no homicides!

I was to get my "friend" :( about a week after I started. Well she just arrived today, almost 3 weeks late. I paniced a bit thinking I was pregnant. Glad to find out I was not. (Have 3 kids with the younges at 10 months old). Will they get back on track or stay eratic while I do this program?
