Question for the hair experts re: Nioxin

Postby Serendipity » August 12th, 2006, 9:14 am

I have a question for the hair experts out there. I got my Nioxin and used it this morning, no problems. My question is: Do I need to wash my hair every day? I'm used to every other day. I have this notion that the less I mess with my hair, the less that will fall out, lol.

This is definately a question for SharonR, our hair goddess.
I usually use Noixin Cleanser to clean up the scalp, and then another one to help clear up little pimple like things I get just above the neckline in the back. I don't use it regularly though, and thankfully, haven't had the weight loss hair loss yet.

Hey Jo, that is a misconception that people often fall for, to not want to shampoo hair or brush hair that is falling out or thinning. It's just opposite. Stimulating the scalp is what encourages new growth.

I don't think you need to wash it every day necessisarly, but I would encourage you to massage your scalp every day before bed, move the skin over your scalp and see if it moves. If the skin moves back and forth that means you have good circulation. If it is stiff and doesn't really move, well let's just say you don't and that's not such a great thing. Does that makes sense? Wish I could draw you a diagram...haha.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

also, did you just get the shampoo and stuff? because i know my mom was using a few things-- like some drops for her scalp.
when you brush, don't brush wet-- it damages your hair. use a comb/brush that doesn't pull your hair (a given) and pread those oils around.

Thanks Sharon. Of course I had to check my scalp for movement right away! I think I'm good to go, lol. Had some definate movement there.

Alex, I got three things. A cleanser, another thing I'm supposed to leave on for 3 minutes and rinse, and some foam that I'm supposed to apply and leave on.

My hair is really short.....too short to tangle. In fact, we went out in our convertable today and I didn't need a hat!

I know you will love the Nioxin. It is good to dry up zits too. Just put a dab on the blemish before going to bed, wash it off in the morning. You are good to go!!

Now I'm obsessed with "stimulating" my scalp! Hmm, that sounds naughty. Love it!
