A question for Nancy...

Postby Marseilles » March 1st, 2006, 6:12 am

And anyone else that may have tried them. Regarding the womans health shakes, do they taste the same as the others? And are they suitable to use in the weightloss portion of medifast? I'm thinking that if so, it sure wouldnt hurt for me to replace one or two of my daily shakes with those ones. Your advice?

Marseilles ~

I use the Women's Health shakes for menopausal symptoms such a personal :redhead: night saunas - I was awakening as many as 23-27 times per night because I was having an instant summer and no one else in the house was experiencing it but me. :hammerhead: Pant, pant!

I like them; they taste :eat: good - I prefer the Chocolate, as do most of my clients.

For good hormonal support Medifast Plus Women's Health shakes contain 10 mg echinacea purpurea, 10 mg chaste tree berry (it may help balance hormone levels) and 10 mg black cohosh (which may reduce night sweats/hot flashes and crankiness).

Also tucked inside each packet is 250 mg Super CitriMax™, 2000 mcg Coenzyme Q10 & 2000 Pycnogenol™.

The Super CitriMax™ is an :boing: appetite suppressant - how cool is that? The shake makes ya feel cool and feels ya up for longer!

Super CitriMax™ is a natural product, made from the rind of Garcinia Cambogia, a fruit from south Asia. It is not a stimulant so it does not hype us up, make our  heart go pitter-pat, raise our BP or make ya feel like a Nervous Nellie. Believe me, with my decades long weight loss history I have used some pretty powerful appetite suppressants and they left me amped up and an insomniac…

Note: the Medifast Plus Appetite Suppression shake has only 300 mg of Super CitriMax™ so the Women’s Shake contains more.

Soy has been used for years in many products for women because it, too also helps to reduce hot flashes, night sweats, :x crankiness and fatigue.

Yep, the MF Plus Women's Health shakes are used for weight loss or weight management and used in place of any packet.

I started off with 3 a day until I got my flashes under control (I didn't know how many to start with - I'd suggest starting with 1 and if needed, go up to 2. Maximum 3 a day of any of the specialty shakes) and then I dropped down to 2 a day and now I use 1 or 2 a day, depending on how I feel – I usually have it in the afternoon so it will work to keep the hungries away and work to prevent for my :snooze: evening personal sauna.

I think they taste great but need just a little more  shakage time to mix.

They tastes sweeter because they are - more sugar than other shakes and they are filling.

Nancy-

Any chance we might see RTD's in the diabetic product section? I would LOVE that!

I thought once you started one program you weren't supposed to switch back and forth. I honestly am thinking of getting the diabetic ones just cause of the lower sugar, not cause I need them for diabetes. But, then aren't you supposed to have only diabetes program food with it??? I could have sworn I read that some place.

Hi, Sidrah ~

You ask a great question and it certainly is confusing at times.

Diabetics really do need to use the diabetic products designed for their specific needs. Dr. Andersen says they really must use the diabetic bars and not the regular line of bars.

Many of the Medifast products are designed for both diabetics and non-diabetics - like the Oatmeal, the Chili, Minestrone, Creamy Brocc & Creamy Chicken Soups, Chicken Noodle Soup and the Fruit Punch and Cranberry Mango drinks. And as Vicky indicated, the RTDs are for everyone, too.

(BTW, I'd love to see other flavors of the RTDs, too and have suggested it as well.)

Non-diabetics may use the diabetic bars and the diabetic shakes, too - there is no problem with doing so and we have several non-diabetic people that prefer them due to the lower sugar content and the crunchy texture.

The Peanut Butter Crunch Bars and the Chocolate Crunch Bars sell for $16.15 per box.

The Diabetic shakes come in Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry flavors and are priced at $14.35 per box.

Crunch you say Nancy? Are we talking crunch like a Natures Valley granola bar? That would be so awesome..that is something I do miss with our beloved bars, as much as I love them. I DIG crunchy food! hehehe..wonder if the diabetic bars would satisfy that craving...

Thank you Nancy, for all of the helpful information on the womens shakes. I most certainly will order some to try them with my next order. I love the idea of getting all the extra womanly stuff!

Sure hope you and Terry are feeling better and are back to 110% very soon!

Take Care!
-M.

Dear Marseilles ~

Yup, the Diabetic Bars are crunchy and so is the Lemon Fantasy Bar, in some publications it is listed as "Crunchy Lemon" (part of the regular line of bars.

You know all Medifast products are available as a single serving size for $2.50 so that we can try before we buy. That's kind of a good way to go so that if you purchase something and you don't care for it too much then you don't have to locate someone in the Shop 'n Swap to trade with them. The only thing I wouldn't recommend buying a sample packet of is the Medifast crackers - a box of 7 packettes sells for $3.35 so we don't wantcha to spend $2.50 for one of those dinkette packs of crackers!

:secret: If you think you might want to see if the diabetic bar line is your piece of cake, then you may want to order a single sample of each.

I haven't eaten one for a long, long time so my tastebuds don't have a clear memory of their taste. I remember the base texture was similar to those ice cream waffle-type cookies. The chocolate coating is thin and they do not taste sweet. I liked the chocolate the best and it reminded me of a cocoa taste. Others who use them will be able to give you a better idea of the crunch and taste appeal.

All of the Medifast Diabetic products have 5 or fewer grams of sugarper serving, are low in calories, and carbs so people with diabetes who use them must closely monitor their blood sugars as the program will most likely affect their oral agents and insulin dosage requirements. Many people find they have better control of their diabetes and their blood sugar readings improve rapidly and that is so fabulous when people improve their health so much that they are free of their diabetes medications! :bounce:

I am a prime example of this...i was taking two insulin shots per day and 2 oral doses per day....I have been on MF for 6 weeks and completely free from my meds...no more shots, no more pills!
