question about the shakes..

Postby KellyC » April 24th, 2007, 4:54 pm

I hate the shakes!

They all taste really horrible to me. I much prefer the soups.

My question is, can I have cappuccino or chai or cocoa or whatever for breakfast (because soup in the morning is gross), and then have soups for the other 4?

Basically, I want to skip the shakes all together.
I've read conflicting instructions about this, some say it's ok to have 5 of anything (except bars), and others say to have 3-4 shakes.

You can have 5 of anything, with just one bar.

I was confused about this at first, too. In the 'olden days' when there were only shakes, I guess you had to have 4 of them a day. But now all the supplements are interchangeable, as long as you only have one bar a day. I don't buy the shakes anymore either, although I like the swiss mocha and I might get that again sometime.

I only like the orange creme shakes really... blended with a bunch of ice it's like a creamsicle!! The banana ones I can handle too.

Have you tried the scrambled eggs yet? Those are great, it's real eggs.

that's fantastic, thanks alot!

to be honest, I'm very VERY wary of the eggs.. already I find the meals are very artificial flavored, I couldn't imagine how that would translate to eggs.

Kelly.... let me be honest.... I got really tired of shakes too. I pretty much stick with the Ready to Drinks (RTD's). What I found for the shakes was to make them with stuff that helped them...vanilla and chocolate with coffee), ... orange or strawberry with Crystal Light, etc. So, give those things a try.
As for the eggs... I was really wary of them (given my Boy Scout experiences). I will say, thanks to the glowing recommendations of folks on this forum, I tried them and nopw they are my favorite medimeal. I make them as just eggs with hot sauce and garlic, or sometimes I fold in some salsa for a little omelette.

As for the requirements.... it is recommended that you have a shake given the benefits of the soy in the shakes... but any medimeal is okay (just 1 bar maximum a day).

Hope this helps.

I am weird because the shakes and drinks are my absolute favorites, mixed right in the jar with cold water. Voila! I am embarrassed to admit that my favorite flavor is vanilla, followed closely by cappuccino and Swiss Mocha. I heat up my capp after I shake it. The only doctoring I do is sometimes mix coffee with my vanilla shake or capp.

I like the shakes and drinks as is too.
I dislike chocolate but really enjoy the Dutch Choc shakes. I bought some Swiss Choc shakes - but blah. I keep some Vanilla and what is left of the Banana shakes in stock.

I LOVE the chai and hot chocolate. They taste just as good at the non-MF versions, to me atleast. I've been adding Hazelnut to my cappi. I normally heat or blend those.

Right now I am on a Tropical Punch kick. I'll have to order me some more since I have about 38 days left of work and I've made it a habit to have atleast 2 a day while at work.

Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.

I don't doctor anything except the chili and minestrone, and to those I just add some Mrs. Dash!

Hi Kelli,
When I first started the program I hated the shakes. Now they are my favorite out of everything. Your tastebuds will change. It took about a week for my tastebuds to change.

The only shakes I take are the Dutch Choc. Hot Choc(love this one) and the rtd's

I love it too. That's what I had before bedtime last night.

I know someone who said she loves the pudding for breakfast.

Just remember when you make the eggs only cook them on the stove, the microwave is horrible.

I'm going on vacation soon and I intend to bring the shakes, bars and pudding with me. Since I'm not going to have a microwave in my room, I'm making it as easy as I can.

I have the cappuccino for breakfast almost every morning. And, yes, folks even have the pudding for breakfast.

Beware the extra carbs in some of the soups! If you're really sensitive to carbohydrates, they can slow your weight loss. Just keep monitoring and adjusting.

Re: the shakes. There are all KINDS of things you can do with the shakes! Blending them with ice makes a HUGE difference! And then there are all kinds of extracts to add.
