Question about Oatmeal

Postby mombarnes » November 15th, 2004, 5:27 pm

Well, I've had to move my microwave to a different part of the kitchen. Getting my head inside to lick up the spilled oatmeal was just too hard when it was in the corner.
No, I'm really not licking the microwave ... but I'm tempted to.
I'm trying so hard to not have it boil over (nothing else seems to boil over), but I lose part of it every time I make it. And it's so delicious that I want every morsel in my bowl.
Does anyone else have this problem & how did you solve it?
[one problem is that the light is burned out in the microwave - which I can fix. but I figure I must also be doing something wrong in preparation]

mombarnes, you crack me up. Thanks for the hearty chuckle! To keep the oatmeal from erupting out of the bowl, I get a bigger bowl - or you could put just the minimum amount of water, nuke it, and then add more water when it's done. A bigger bowl is the easiest solution for me.

You must have some mega kind of nuclear device at your home that causes your Medifast oatmeal to form erupting lava inside the nuclear box...I just fill my shaker jar with 8 ounces of water from my refrigerator water dispenser, add the packet of oatmeal and stir, nuke for one minute, take it out and stir and nuke again for 45 sec. to a minute. No eruptions, just yummy oatmeal.

I DO like mine runny...if you want yours thicker, I'd use less water and a lid on a larger bowl.
Nothing tastes as good as thin feels...
