Question about my meal choice

Postby Laramedifast » March 13th, 2005, 5:48 pm

Just a quick question to any one who may know the answer and wish to console me...
For supper tonight rather than 4-5 oz of lean meat I have a Boca burger (vegetarian soy patty). I checked the label. It had 5g carbs, 100 calories, 1.5g fat. I'm hoping this was fine. I was getting close to 4 hours since my last meal and needed to nuke something quickly...
Thanks!

I eat Boca burgers all the time for my "lean" in my "lean & green." I just check the labels, like you did, to make sure I don't buy the versions that have higher carbs and calories (for example, I think Morningstar makes a tomato basil soy patty that I love, but that has a few too many carbs for MFing). I like the fact that the soy burgers usually have a good bit of fiber in them, too, and I can't mess up by having a bit too much of it (since they're automatically portioned for you). Personally, I'm all aboard the soy burger train! So maybe we're both goofing up, but hey, at least you're not alone!

Dont forget the "green" part of the lean/green....:)

It's a very important part of keeping the proper balance....

From what I've read, as long as you keep protein and carbs at a 1:1 ratio and fat less, you should be ok. The main thing is to not get too many carbs each meal or per day. They mess with ketosis.

I don't think it hurt anything.

Thanks for your comments. I also had some green beans (about a cup) but they were freezerburned and nasty so I had to choke them down! Think I'll stick to my usual cauliflower and broccoli. Cauliflower is okay, isn't it??

Yup; I do cauliflower. It's not as nutritious as broccoli (fewer vitamins), but a girl can't live on broccoli alone! ;) Sometimes I whip up a bit of tomato-curry sauce for the cauliflower-- mix a tablespoon or 2 of tomato paste with water, and add curry powder, onion flakes, salt, and pepper. Easy peasy!

You can also do mashed cauliflower and pretend they are potatoes! ;)
