It's fine to drink diet soda. I find it makes me hungry and have heard the same reports from others....SO, if you find you are battling hunger, that may be the culprit :)

I personally wouldn't make it through 1 day without a Diet Pepsi. :hammerhead1:

But limit yourself...I believe it's 2-3 a day. Try the caffeine free, also. Not bad.

I try to only have one a day. I like the vanilla shakes mixed with the diet soda's. Especially Diet Big Red, Diet Root Beer, and Diet Cream Soda with the Orange Shake. I mix it all up in my smoothie maker and have it while my kids are having their afternoon snack.
Where in Texas are you? I am in Amarillo.

If you are going to drink diet soda try to drink caffene free drinks. The caffene drops can cause hunger cravings.

Now I am wondering about Iced Tea with Splenda. Is it okay, and does tea count towards our water intake? I mean after all, its just water with herbs, right?

We are allowed caffeine, equivalent to 3 cups of coffee a day. Yes, unsweetened iced tea, crystal light, flavored water, everything that is clear liquidy and has no calories (well, 5 for crystal light but we are allowed, I heard it *straight* from the horse's mouth, the medical director of Medifast) counts toward daily fluid intake requirement of at least 64 ounces. Plain water is PREFERRED, however.

What I do is drink 4-5 big tall 15 oz glasses of ice water a day, then usually have a fruit flavored sparkling water. Once every few days I will have a diet caffeine-containing pop.

I didn't realize caffeine can cause hunger cravings........I drink more than 3 a day on most occasions.
Maybe this contributes to my hungriness ALL THE TIME!!!

Did I miss this somewhere or this common sense I didn't know?

Diet pop is fine but as Pashta said only water and crystal light and such count toward the required intake of 64oz. Also as a side note while the other drinks like Crystal light and unsweetened tea and such do count toward the required amount which is 64oz according to the nurse support line that 64oz is to keep you hydrated but does not aid in weight loss like plain water which is why plain water in preferrable. I was told the more plain water the better as plain water goes right through our bodies and flushes the fat cells out but with other drink such as tea or crystal light our bodies have to process the other ingredients that are added to the water but they definately help you to stay hydrated while on Medifast while soda can actually be dehydrating.

Michelle,

There is an abundance of information out there outlining the evils of caffeine and why it should be avoided. But the bottom line is that caffeine will affect your blood sugar levels and can induce sugar cravings.

Well I started last week drinking more water. I am drink 32 ounzes of cystal light brevage-one in the morning instead of coffee, and one in the evening instead of diet soda. And during the day I am up to at least 48 ounzes of plain water. So I think I am doing okay. Yesterday I had a big glass of Tea with splenda, and was wondering if that was bad.

Thanks all for the information! I am still waiting on my order!
