Hey Katie,

I got started with the couch 2 5k, so you are well on your way to doing what I can do (which honestly isn't as much as it could be). Thanks for stopping by :)

Good morning!

It was a nice treat to have you stop over and leave me a post. Thank you.

I see that you are still focused on health and exercise, and I think that is really awsome!

I hope you will have a lovely week end!

Thanks Biki, Hol and Joy. I'm still floating. I went to the gym today at noon to do another body power class. Today's class was called 4x6. We did 4 sets of 3 different exercises. Each set was 6 reps. We did cleans and presses and squats but this time with kettlebells. Image
I used the 12kg kettlebells for everything except the warm up reps for the cleans. (I'm being so specific because this serves as my journal that we are supposed to keep for the duration of the challenge.)

Fun! Actually, my form needs a lot of work. I kept hitting myself with the kettlebell while doing the cleans. They said that happens a lot with beginners. We started and ended with some yoga. Oh, a little jogging in the beginning. My form was off on that, too.

I just love how you say things like "my form was off" when the whole routine you just described would put me on a stretcher!

I was just thinking "Wow, kettlebells and cleans and presses. I wouldn't even know what that means if it wasn't for Queenie!"

Queenie--you are definitely keeping me interested! I've never wanted to go to a public gym for fear of embarassement as if everyone one there would be watching ME, but I have to tell you, you've certainly got me thinking about challenging myself. I like the idea of a program. Something where I'm not on my own or singled out. Well, not unless the instructor wanted to make me a poster child for how not to do it. ;)

Lol! You could definitely do the things they had us do yesterday. The hardest part was concentrating on doing it correctly, not the actual reps themselves. A good thing about this challenge is that I leave the gym feeling like I did something I didn't think I could do when I first got there. Then again, my positive outlook on the program might be related to how much money I spent to do it. Either way, I think I will really notice a difference in my abilities once it's over.

I feel the same way. By doing what she is doing and then journaling about it she is opening a world of possibilities for some of us.

Hey Tracy, I completely understand not wanting to be singled out ;) Fortunately, at this gym, we do all of the exercises with a partner so you really are only able to concentrate on the person you are working with. You have to watch your partner's form and help count for them so it takes some of the pressure of being watched by everybody off. Also, there are no mirrors in the gym so other people can't stare at you through the mirrors.

I really need challenges to motivate me so I think it would be fun for you to even do a trial program just to see how you liked the gym or place where you decide to workout. For me, the limited amount of days pushes me to want to see results in that amount of time.

good morning you little stud muffin

Your challenge sounds like a ton of fun. Your form will come, for some, like me, it took a little bit longer    But, it is like riding the proverbial bike, you do not lose it once you get it.

keep sweating baby

Queenie,
The kettlebells sound intense. They're basically cast iron cannonballs with handles, yeah?
Random ~ I was reading something about kettleballs not too long ago :o .
Apparently, there is a competitive exercise called the "Two Kettlebell Jerk."
Hmmmmm. Sounds like someone I once dated....
