Hey Hol,

I'm here, just didn't make it to roll call yesterday. I was down half a pound so I guess I should've posted that. I put my scales away until Sept 9 or 10 which is when I will decide to sign up for the fitness challenge at a local gym. We'll see how that works!

I missed yesterday evening and this morning and Sojo and Kelly both came back! I've got some reading to do...

I signed up for the fitness challenge at that gym today. I was very intimidated during the tour. It's not a conventional gym by any means and I'm not sure how I will be able to keep up. That's why I decided to do the challenge instead of just joining. This way, I will start with some other beginners and get some personal attention from the trainers. If you want to check the challenge out, go to dub dub dub dot monkeybargym dot com and click on the 60 day fitness challenge link.

It finally stopped raining here, although we might get some storms tonight. I'm glad that it's warm and humid again!

Just wanted to testify that taste changes do occur! I had my first caramel nut bar since throwing one away after one bite on my 3rd day of the program. Today I thought it was delicious! This is even after having half a brownie and a couple of Godiva truffles recently (so I haven't forgotten what chocolate tastes like). I'm excited that I found something new that I liked 4 months in. I'm also excited about the next level of fitness that I hope I will reach soon. In addition to doing the fitness challenge, I'm also signing up to learn how to swim. The beginner course probably won't teach me how to really swim since it will focus on getting used to being in the water but it's a start. Oh yeah, I'll get to take Brazilian Jiu Jitsu courses during the fitness challenge, too. I'm excited!

Good luck with the fitness challenge. Your weight loss and exercise journey has been quite inspiring, but I have to say that the desire to learn how to swim at your age is MARVELOUS!!! Eveyone should know how to swim. Countless lives are lost unneccesarily because someone didn't know how to swim. I almost admire your desire and willingness to learn to swim as much as the weight loss and exercise!! Keep up the great work!!

Hey Queenie,

I haven't checked in on you for a while, so I'm just saying Hi.

Today I went to a private gym. Everything is by appt and one on one personal trainer. Seemed like a great program but I figured it was out of my budget...about $600 a month. OUCH. I just can't get in to the whole idea of a big gym, but there are a couple other small ones around here I may check out.

Good luck on your challenge, sounds fun.

Thanks for stopping by, Mickey.

I went to the student rec center on campus yesterday and did the stairmaster for the first time in probably 4 or 5 years. I made it the whole 30 minutes which is the max time you can use a cardio machine at the gym. I burned a ton of calories compared to other 30 minute workouts so I think I'll go back today and try it again. I still never went to a spinning class. Maybe I'll go next week when they start up again.

I haven't weighed on my official scales in 2 days. I should hide my analog scale, too, because I still step on it, but I think it weighs under what the digital scales weigh.

Hi,

Been so busy that I do not get anywhere much other than my own journal. Did read about the gym and I hope that will go well for you. I has been near the 100's here, so that has made my working out a struggle.

regards,
joy

Hey Joy! As much as I was tired of all the rain we had last week, I'm not sure I want to trade it for 100 degree days. Fortunately, it's stopped raining for a little while.

I went back and got those size 12 French Connection pants that I mentioned in Biki's journal and they fit great. Crazy, considering that it doesn't look like I will ever make it out of the 190s.

That's pretty darn good if you haven't been on the stairmaster in 4 or 5 years. Guess you have all that stamina from all the other good exercise your getting. Keep up the good work Queenie!

Thanks, Donna! The stairmaster was a challenge, but I was distracted part of the time trying to figure out how to work my mp3 player so I think that made the time go by quicker.

Maybe I used the wrong name for the equipment at the gym. The stair climbing machine I used the other day was the one were there are two pedals and you basically just push them down and they come back up. Yesterday I was on a machine labeled "stairmaster" and it was like an escalator where you had to step up on each stair as it came down (like walking up a down escalator). That machine kicked my butt! I managed to do the 30 minutes, but I was dripping sweat by the bucketfuls.

Im with you girlie, I hate the 90's But the good news is we are out of the 200's. no more, no more jack :-P hit the road

Have a great weekend.
