I just don't have the discipline for tapes or DVD's. The second I get kind of tired (usually during the warm up), I quit. Whereas if I am a mile away from home I have no choice but to continue exercising. I do get intriqued by these DVD's you guys have or are getting. Maybe I should see if I can make myself get through some of the ones I have a few times I will expand my collection. Hey! Doing exercise DVD's is a great way to spend time when hubby leaves me alone on Saturdays. I was going to get my custom bra made this week but I spent 200 bucks having my mani-pedi, brows and hair done and I am trying not to overspend.

Can I be gauche and ask how much? I called on Monday and they haven't called me back.

Hey Biki, I don't know how much they told Mickey and I imagine different Curves charge different prices, but at the one I go to, the rate is around $39 a month. There might also be an introductory fee but I can't remember how much that was - I don't remember it being expensive. Of course, they have plans where they want you to prepay but they also have plans where you just pay by the month. I got the student plan and I paid $99 for 3 months.

Hope that helps :)

:)
That sounds reasonable but of course I am not a student. My old gym charged over 80 bucks a month plus I had a personal trainer. That's why my husband went whacko when I never went. And when I did go I took wine in my water bottle. I am calling Curves again to see if they will return my call! Thanks!

I forgot to clarify that the $39 a month was the non-student rate.

I ordered Slim in 6 yesterday from ebay. I'm nervous since I didn't get my last purchase from there, but I think I will actually get this one. I asked for expedited shipping because I want to start the 6 weeks on Monday. There is a 60-day fitness challenge at a local gym that starts September 10 (6 weeks from Monday) and the only way I am going to pay for the challenge is as a gift to myself for completing 6 weeks of the Slim in 6. The challenge is expensive - $350 - so I have to work hard to earn it. My Curves membership will be over at the end of September anyway and I don't plan on renewing it.

I'm having such a hard time this week with bread and cake cravings. I can't even go into the other office at work because I think there might be bagels in there to celebrate someone's birthday. Grrrr...I hope the cravings go away soon. I'm up this week probably due to a combo of TOM and 2 days without exercise. I didn't get a chance to jog yesterday because I was at work late, had to run errands and then come back to campus for an event with the program where I'm teaching. I hope I don't get lazy now. I haven't had 2 days in a row off in over 2 months (from exercising that is).

Hi,

I just was hoping to help give you strength to fight the call of bread. I saw the Slim in 6 on TV and I didn't realize it was that much! I hope you will get in time and it works great. I will keep an eye for your mention on it in your journal.

keep well and regards,

Hey Joy,

Thanks for stopping by and giving me strength :) Fortunately, the bagels in the office were not fresh ones from the bakery so I wasn't tempted.

I must not have been clear about the price of the fitness challenge. It is the 60-day fitness challenge at a local gym that is $350. Slim in 6 is something like 3 payments of $19.95 if you order from beachbody.

Well I wouldn't have minded if it had been that amount, but it was $149 set up fee and $49 month. Now I hear they have a special where the set up is $74.50, August is free and then it is $39 per month for 1 year. I may consider that.

Queenie, do you think it is worth it and do you think I may "outgrow" it before the year is up.

That setup fee is pretty steep. At the time I joined, they were running promotions that didn't include the setup fee. If you go frequently (I go 3 times a week) I think you might outgrow it. I've been going 3 times a week for the past 2 months and I'm almost ready to stop. I just don't burn enough calories there compared to jogging. According to my heart rate monitor, I burn between 300-330 calories at Curves and that includes the time I spend stretching afterwards. If I jog 5 kilometers, I burn closer to 500 calories.

I really did enjoy Curves at first and I had great results after the first 4 weeks, but that was combined with the C25k and of course medifast. If you can, see if they will let you have a trial month or if you have a friend who goes to Curves, she can probably get you a free month. See if you like it.

Hope that helps, Mickey. :)

I felt so bad about not exercising the past 2 days I probably overdid it today. I went to Curves right after work and then I came home and jogged 3.75 miles. A new personal record. With the warm up and cool down, I did 4.5 miles total. Felt great, though.

Oh, and I had a NSV today. After Curves, I went to the mall to pick up the Biggest Loser workout DVD. I also stopped by the Gap because I saw this dress

Image

and I wanted to try it on. I thought I would try it in a 16 and see how close it was to fitting. Well, I got there and they didn't have any 16s, they only had a 14. I decided i would try the 14 to see how close it came to buttoning so I would be able to tell if a 16 might fit. I got to the fitting room knowing the dress wouldn't fit, but surprise surprise, it fit! A size 14 dress. Of course, I don't look like Amerie (the woman in the picture) but I still love the dress. That was a long story just to say that the 14 fit. Sorry ;)

what a darling size 14 dress!
Is it periwinkle? what's the material?
I might have to check out the gap.
Isnt it fun to shop for regular clothes?
wish I had more money for it.
have a good evening.
