I much prefer to be the mystery guest on this forum... haha

No, I never started the journal bc I didn't want to have to feel obliged to follow up on it, or respond to folks if I didn't have time, or whatever. I just thought it would be something else to make me feel guilty somehow (Jewish guilt runs amok!). But you can always "reach me" in the Maintenance section!

Actually, Queenie, "welcome to my hell" was referencing the price of ALL things in Manhattan, not specifically pilates. I actually am supposed to be trying out a studio near my home this weekend, but thus far I've only don mat pilates, not machine. I have, however, TOTALLY seen a change in my body from running, which is so bizarre. It's odd (Robin can attest to this) to not say a dramatic change on the scale, but to have your whole body shift and change and reconfigure!

I suddenly have a "runner's body," the lean and long look, as opposed to the "curvy" body I had before. Obviously the fact that my boobs deflated completely adds to this new look! Ha! It's just funny that I don't look like a smaller version of me before, I look like a totally different version.

I am eager to try the pilates machines to see what new-fangled thing I can get my body to do. Isn't it fun trying all this new stuff? It's like a whole new world opened up!

If I do go this weekend, I'll let you know how it is...

Ciao, bella!

Hmmm, I'm still waiting to see a change. Not that I run as much as you, Lauren, but between running and walking and tapes, I get in quite a few miles a day ... and I don't really see a difference. :x

Not that I'm expecting "long and lean" at 5-foot-2. But I'd be happy with some reconfiguring, as you put it.

Robin - you've talked about your abs showing now, and the fact that you're now sporting the fabulous tank tops, so give yourself (and your body!) due credit!

But, yeah, at 5'9" it is easier to be looong...

The tank tops have more to do with attitude than any actual physical difference. And I wonder if the abs thing isn't all in my head, too. I measured my legs the other day, and my calves are actually a bit BIGGER than they were before. (Sorry, Queenie, I don't want to hijack this.)

Oh no! I'm sorry. Just do everything they say to protect your blood clots. You don't want an empty socket.

Now THAT is dedication!! I'd totally blow off the gym for that. Then again, I'm so petrified of the dentist that I'd probably spend the whole rest of the day curled up in the fetal position under the blankets.

Ugh. Dry socket. I had the extreme misfortune of having that experience.
It was over 10 years ago, and just the thought of it sent chills up my spine just now.

I hope you feel better soon, Queenie!
Here you go...

How did the dentist go? Did they put you out or were you awake? Before I got my braces I had 5 teeth removed and was gratefully unaware of what they were doing. How are you feeling?

Thank you everyone for your well wishes!

Hi Biki, they put me to sleep, which was my first time ever having anesthesia. Pretty nice experience since I went to sleep and woke up not realizing I slept for more than 10 minutes and that 2 of my teeth had been removed. So far, so good. I didn't go to the gym yesterday and I won't go today since the instruction sheet says to avoid any strenuous physical activity (get out of gym free card). I ate ice cream and soft dairy foods yesterday - I was trying to be a good patient and follow their instructions 8) My friend who took me to the oral surgeon ended up taking me back to her apartment after the surgery and she didn't have any medifast there. Only orange juice, yogurt and ice cream. This morning I've already had a shake and I'm ready to report a lower weight for tomorrow, I hope.

Hey Lauren, did you go to the Pilates studio today? I'm anxiously awaiting your report :)

I forgot to post my NSV from the dentist yesterday. My blood pressure was completely normal! The last time I was at the doctor's in March, she was concerned because my bp was too high. I bought a wrist bp monitor and it was pretty high a couple of times using that thing, too. I'm just happy happy happy that it's normal now since both of my parents have been on bp meds for over 30 years (well maybe my mom has only been on them for 20 years, but you get the point). Here's to our health!

Hey Queenie,

I am going to chime in the whole pilates thing. I hemmed and hawed over the price of pilates after doing group mat sessions for only $10 each. Now I am signing up for regular pilates. I get 2 private sessions, 2 sessions with a group of 4 people on something called The Reformer and group mat sessions for $170. It is the beginners package to see how you like it. I have a friend that started pilates 3 years ago and has since become an instructor. She has gone from a size 18 to an 8 and looks amazing, plus she is strong and limber. I have to find something that won't inflame my neck. Anyway, I am giving this a try and hope I am not just getting myself in to a money pit!

I envey you, Robin and Lauren for all your exercise, but like I said, I have to find something that won't inflame my neck.
