Queenie,
The kettlebells sound intense. They're basically cast iron cannonballs with handles, yeah?
Random ~ I was reading something about kettleballs not too long ago :o .
Apparently, there is a competitive exercise called the "Two Kettlebell Jerk."
Hmmmmm. Sounds like someone I once dated....
:shades: :goofy:

Ba da ching! Yeah, Sojo, the kettlebells are like cannonballs with handles. Who thought those would be good things to snatch into the air so they could land against my wrist, I don't know. We used them again today to do the same workout as yesterday. I was complaining to the instructor about my arms being sore where the kettlebells hit them and asking what to do about that. She said oh don't worry, the spot usually calluses so it won't hurt after a while. Grrrreeat. That's exactly what I want -callused arms.

Your challenge sounds like a ton of fun. Your form will come, for some, like me, it took a little bit longer    But, it is like riding the proverbial bike, you do not lose it once you get it.

keep sweating baby

I'm gonna trust you, Hol! Thanks for the encouragement :)

Queenie--you are definitely keeping me interested! I've never wanted to go to a public gym for fear of embarassement as if everyone one there would be watching ME, but I have to tell you, you've certainly got me thinking about challenging myself. I like the idea of a program. Something where I'm not on my own or singled out. Well, not unless the instructor wanted to make me a poster child for how not to do it. ;)

I feel the same way. By doing what she is doing and then journaling about it she is opening a world of possibilities for some of us.

Thanks, Biki. I'm glad that feel that way. If I didn't have examples like you, I wouldn't even be losing weight still.

Awwwwww....that's sweet. I needed that this morning. If I hadn't stopped my Ebay addiction I would get you another hoodie! I have 3 now! The pink one, the orange one (that was part of that suit) and my new favorite a baby blue that is like sweater material with a few crystals. They really are great for walks when it is cool but not cold. OH, and perfect for lounging! My favorite activity!

No wonder I cannot find a BCBG hoodie, Biki is buying them!! ;) Biki

Queenielou, you are such a great inspiration!!! Cannon balls with handles? I'm already so bruised up with just daily bumps (I take aspirin daily and that along with always bruising easily, means I've very colorful all the time).....can't imagine what I'd look like flinging around cannon balls.

 I'm so thankful you are here (said that the other day, didn't I? Hmmm, old people repeat themselves or so I've read...... Hmmm, old people repeat themselves or so I've read.............)

You ladies are the best! Thanks Biki, T, Hols and Mickey for your support and encouragement.

Yesterday I had 2 NSVs. First, we had a social gathering for a research team of which I'm a member. It was at another team member's house and we had barbequed pork shoulder, ropa vieja and lots of other sides. I brought a nice big salad to pass so that's what I ended up eating most. After the meal, I was talking to two of the other grad students on the team about the fitness challenge and one said but you've already lost weight haven't you? I said yes and she asked how much. She was shocked when I said 50 pounds. Shocked. She congratulated me. It felt nice that they finally noticed since they were the one's who noticed the male team member's weight loss immediately when he lost around 30 pounds earlier in the spring.

After the get together I went to the mall. There was a cute nine west skirt I wanted to try on but the largest size they had was a 10. So in an effort to see how far I had to go to wear a 10 (my goal for the holidays) I tried it on. Since this is an NSV, you know how the story ends :) I was able to zip and fasten the skirt. Unbelievable. Of course it didn't actually fit where I could wear it anywhere but the dressing room, but it did make my goal of wearing a 10 by December 15 seem like a possibility. Even if it is only one skirt made my one brand, a 10 is a 10!

Congratulations on the fabulous NSVs! I am still trying to squeeze into 14s and a few 12s - I am not ready to even contemplate a 10. You'll probably be in single digits by December!

Thanks, Nickie. I still definitely wear a 14. A 12 or 2 might work, but I'm solidly in 14s (even at Jcrew - another NSV I forgot to mention). The 14s I bought from Banana Republic yesterday fit nicely, a little on the loose side. I should have tried the 12s. Maybe I will today.

Today is a day off from the gym. Tomorrow I do body power and yoga. After this week, I can add a FIT (functional interval training) class. I'm excited!

Apparently I shop at the magic store because I've seen your pictures, Biki, and there is NO WAY we are the same size. If you're a 14, I should be at least an 18. Maybe I'm just more squishy.

I agree with Nickie, Biki. I can't see how I can wear 12s and 14s and you do, too. Granted, the 12s are tight but I just got a 12 skirt from Ann Taylor Loft that I can actually wear.

Oh yes! Dec 15th can so happen.

I really enjoyed your NSV stories.
