Putting it in perspective

Postby LAwoman » May 7th, 2006, 8:40 am

Good morning fellow MF-Losers,

I read several of the posts this week regarding people being disappointed in their losses or themselves for not losing enough, going off-plan, or feeling sad for not being "allowed" to go off-plan.

Yesterday, I was out walking wishing I was already at goal, thinking if I had only stayed with MF I would have long-ago been at goal, hoping to wake up this morning and suddenly be back in ONEderland...

Then the obvious hit me... :dooh: There's nothing that can be done about last year, last month, last week, yesterday, or even 5 minutes ago. I can however control right now and every tomorrow.

Once I recognized this rather obvious, but often allusive fact, I started concentrating soley on my
accomplishments.

I'm already 15 lbs. less today than I was just a mere two weeks ago.
I'm already 15 lbs. closer to goal.
I feel so much better waking up every morning.
I have so much more energy
Even my "fat size 14 clothes" don't cut off my circulation and will be falling off pretty soon.
My skin looks fresh and healthy.
My health is improved.
My mindset is clearer and I feel "up".

When you think you haven't come very far, or are bummed you haven't gone further, or you're sad you couldn't eat that off-plan food, or you went off-plan, or any other idea that may sabatoge your plan to reach goal, look at what you've accomplished so far, including being here. WOW! There are some amazing success stories here.

Here's another "trick". Pick up a set of weights equal to your weight loss thus far and carry them around for as long as you can before getting tired. Now remember you've been carrying that on your body for who knows how long and through your efforts and discipline, you've rid your body of that excess weight, and will continue to do the same 'til you reach goal.

I love reading all your successes and appreciate you sharing your frustrations and disappointments, it's too hard to go it alone. You are all an incredible inspiration and motivation. Great job to all of us. Keep it up.

What have you accomplished since starting MF???

LA Woman, that was an amazing post!

We have ALL come very far and even though we have a ways to go, we are ALL A LOT better off than we were before.

You're right, there's NOTHING we can do about yesterday, last week, last year.

GREAT post!

Loved it!

Thank you for sharing your uplifting story. It is so easy to focus on what we can't have that it's sometimes difficult to remember where we've come from. Thanks for the reminder!!!

Thanks fellow-MFasters,

I'd love to read a list of your accomplishments too.
I believe it helps you realize how far you've come when take the time to recognize all your efforts. Also, I believe it motivates and inspires many of us to see what we can do too.

Wishing you all a fabulous week.
