Pudding

Postby Anabel » June 18th, 2007, 5:53 am

I had my first chocolate pudding last night. When I made it I didn't see that it said to stir it with a fork and I used a whisk for about a minute. I then put it in the fridge to chill for 30 minutes. I was so looking forward to that but unfortunately it didn't turn out as a pudding. It was like liquid. Did the fact that I used a whisk instead of a fork make the pudding liquidy?
Thank you.

Are you sure you didn't use too much water? I just put my water in the shaker jar, add pudding mix, shake and voila! pudding! No whisk involved.

The pudding can be a little temperamental. Try using 4 ounces of very cold water, and make sure you don't leave it in the fridge too long after you make it (half an hour or an hour is fine, but don't try making it ahead and eating it the next day or anything or you'll have pudding soup).

I use ice water and shake it in my shaker jar. Works fine, but don't use too much water....I use about 1/2 cup.

Thank you for all your replies. I don't know what I did wrong because I did use the right amount of water. I'm thinking that maybe I whisked it too long. I will also use very cold water next time because I didn't do that.

I actually don't start with the measured water. I start with a tiny bit in the container, then add the pudding, then I add a bit more water and start to mix it (fork or spoon) and if its too thick I add a little more water. I believe I use less than 1/2 cup total, and it usually comes out pretty good.

well, i had another pudding tonight and it turned out fine this time. i did make it with a fork this time though....lol. didn't use the whisk. when i was using the whisk the other day it "turned" into pudding after just a few seconds but since the instructions said to do it for a minute that's what i did. guess it was too much whisking...
