Can I use pre-natal vitamins while on this diet?

I believe vitamins are fine. However if you are pregnant then I do not believe that you can do this program, the calories are way to low but if you are just using them as vitamins there should not be any problem.

Thanks alot. I am concerned about taking too many vitamins; since the diet itself has 24 essential vitamins.. will I be over dosing?

I am taking these to prepare... maybe in 6 months I will be ready... ;)

I am not sure on the vitamin thing...I am sure one of the Health Advisors will chime in with some more concrete info.

I just wanted to say congratulations on finding Medifast, and congratulations (early) on your future family! Planning ahead by losing the weight now will certainly ensure you and your baby a healthier pregnancy!

You know, I would not recommend using pre-natals - they are pretty powerful and Medifast already contains the essential vitamins and minerals we need.

There is usually no need to take any additional vitamins. Some people, who may have dry skin or sparse fur like me, may want to consider adding some essential fatty acids (two flaxseed capsules or flaxseed/borage combo capsules).

I took extra B vitamins, Omega 3 Fish Oil, Oil of Evening Primrose.

If a person is taking a regular daily multivitamin, no problem with that but the  pre-natals could push you over the limit on some vitamins. Water soluble would wee wee out but not the fat soluble…vitamins A,D,E, & K can be toxic…

As always, check with your doctor.

As I am not a doctor, take this as you will...

I talked to my doctor about Medifast and he did some research into it. He told me to take folic acid as a "just in case" if I did get pregnant unplanned while on Medifast. That was the only vitamin he was concerned about.

Talk to your doctor and find out what is best for you.

Good luck

Thanks, Aphrael.

I take Folic, too doc's orders as it helps with iron absorption.

It is suggested for women of childbearing ages to help prevent birth defects, specifically spina bifida. Talk to the Doc!
